Experience the Aquarium of the World with Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas

Located just 45-minutes from Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas by way of boat or car lies one of the most popular spots for snorkelling and scuba diving in the entire world. A UNESCO World Heritage Marine Site Cabo Pulmo is the oldest of three coral reefs off the west coast of North America and is estimated to be 20,000 years old.

Termed, “the aquarium of the world,” by famed oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, the marine reserve is home to more than 200 marine species including leatherback sea turtles, moray eels, bull sharks, unique orange grouper, bat rays and galaxies of colourful fish that include the infamous swarms of sparkling jackfish. In the winter, humpback whales can often be seen, and in the spring, hammerhead sharks.

While visitors may enjoy Cabo Pulmo year-round, the best conditions are typically found between June and November, with the greatest visibility, warmest water, and longest periods of calm weather. 

The famed reef is carefully protected through a combined effort by the government and local community in cooperation with scientists, academics and civil organizations to ensure it remains a safe refuge for migratory species. The marine park only allows a limited number of boats into the park at a time to preserve its integrity.
