Presence, honesty, and care are the three guiding principles in Dr. Anand’s life and his 18-year career, with roots dating back to his village upbringing in Kerala, India. Like many healers before him, Dr. Anand struggled with health issues as a child that weren’t solved by conventional approaches. His own journey of ill-health led to his discovery of naturopathy, a path that would ultimately transform his life.

First, a bachelor's degree in Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Bangalore. Next, fuelled by his passion for travel, Dr. Anand took his new knowledge and the ancient healing traditions of his homeland out into the world by beginning his career as an acupuncturist on cruise ships, travelling and connecting with people from around the globe.

As his confidence developed, Dr. Anand began applying naturopathic tools to diverse health issues and knew he had found his calling. “Seeing clients experience real transformation, whether relief from chronic symptoms, improved energy or a deeper sense of peace, is incredibly fulfilling,” he says, reflecting on the joys of serving others. “Every step I’ve taken in my career has been driven by a passion for holistic healing; it’s profoundly rewarding to see that passion making a difference.”

And make a difference it has, across a range of healthcare settings. Dr. Anand honed his clinical expertise first as Medical Officer at Kavilbhavan Yoga & Nature Cure Hospital in Kerala, then serving for seven years as Senior Medical Officer at Prakritishakti Clinic of Natural Medicine in the same state. Here, he not only developed and implemented patient-led clinical and wellness protocols, but he evolved into the person-centered, yet ambitious team leader he is today, a perfect fit for the expert and close-knit team at Kuda Huraa.

Dr. Anand's outlook is underpinned by a deep sense of integrity. “I live by truth, guided by empathy and a commitment to serve others with kindness," he explains. Equally important is his focus on treating the root causes of illness rather than simply the symptoms, motivated by a belief in the body’s innate capacity to heal itself.

For Dr. Anand, living a happy, healthy life shouldn’t feel out of reach for anyone. “I particularly enjoy sharing practical aspects of naturopathy that guests can easily incorporate into their daily lives such as natural detox practices, lifestyle modifications, stress management techniques, and the use of food as medicine,” he comments. He also believes that small, consistent changes, combined with a preventive and personalised approach, are the secret to lasting wellbeing.

ŪRJĀ Naturopathy Island at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa is a natural home for Dr. Anand’s intuitive, compassionate and deeply personalised approach to wellbeing. Shaped by the principles of naturopathy, ŪRJĀ honours nature as the ultimate healer and supports the body’s innate intelligence through non-invasive, energy-based therapies and thoughtful lifestyle guidance. And he's already brimming with ideas for this next chapter: “My vision is to integrate naturopathy, yoga therapy, acupuncture, and personalised nutrition into a cohesive wellness experience for body and mind,” he says. “The goal is for each person to leave feeling empowered to continue their healing journey long after they return home.”

Driven by his dedication to listening, both to the individual and to what the body is trying to communicate, Dr Anand integrates the same principles into his own life by spending time in silence and practising regular digital detoxes, both of which are key to his own relaxation. Guests might also spot him reading and listening to music, or enjoying the calming garden surroundings of his island home.
