“Being a hotelier is a way of life,” insists Martin Dell, excited about the island adventure in Mauritius. Being an outdoor enthusiast, Martin’s energy and enthusiasm are as infectious as his drive to keep the creative spark alive in everything he does. Mauritius’ stunning vistas, bountiful beaches and natural beauty are sure to provide a scenic backdrop to his morning runs while firing his imagination.

Hailing from the Czech Republic, Martin got the first taste of his career through hotel school at Grandhotel Pupp, the Czech Republic. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Business and Hotel Management from the esteemed William Blue Hospitality School, Australia, Martin began scripting a decades-long expedition gaining varied skills and invaluable experiences across the globe.

From Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore to Doha and Maui, Martin rose through the ranks, becoming associated with various prestigious food and beverage outlets. “It helped me explore the world, start appreciating fresh brews during the day and master the art of wine tasting in the evenings,” he says, with a smile. Joining Four Seasons as the Director of Food and Beverage at the Regent Singapore (formerly a Four Seasons hotel), Martin’s leadership and dedication steered him to the role of Hotel Manager in 2014. His growth accelerated as he reached the shores of Maui, Hawaii, in 2016, and returned to the Czech Republic in February 2020 as the first Czech General Manager at Four Seasons. “It was an honour to take up that role, and the perfect opportunity for my family to reconnect with their roots,” he recalls.

As the General Manager of the iconic Four Seasons Hotel Prague, Martin gained recognition for carving milestones moments, especially during challenging times. Accolades poured in during his tenure as Four Seasons Hotel Prague retained its prestigious Forbes 5-Star status for five consecutive years, while the hotel team achieved record-breaking guest experience and staff satisfaction scores. “I love sharing my knowledge with my colleagues, but more importantly, learning from them,” he says, “We work together, share the passion, and enjoy what we do: that is the secret recipe for success.”

The island life, though, is all too alluring for Martin and his family, who are looking to experience the very best of the Africa region. “I’m happy to exchanging carp fishing for sea fishing with my son,” he smiles, “My family and I love the outdoors, and we can’t be happier to immerse in the warm and hospitable Mauritian culture of our new home.”
