We’re with the Band: Rachel Horter

Four Seasons Hotel Nashville spotlights the very best of the city’s live music scene
Nashville, USA

Four Seasons Hotel Nashville is within walking distance of Music City’s large scale venues such as The Nissan Stadium, Ascend Amphitheater and the Ryman Auditorium. Behind the more obvious attractions, however, there exists an eclectic and largely undiscovered music scene out there for visitors to uncover.

In this edition of “We’re With The Band” we spotlight Rachel Horter, an Indiana native now firmly rooted in the music scene of Nashville, appearing frequently in downtown Nashville’s array of live music venues.

The Artist

With a passion for distinctive melodies, engaging lyrics and soaring riffs, Rachel Horter is taking the rising independent artist platform by storm. Growing up in Indiana, her love for singing and songwriting was destined to be shared and has captivated many across the globe.

Her YouTube channel has garnered her more than 70 thousand subscribers and more than 10 million views. She has played all over the US, east coast to west as well as a tour in Germany, gathering many fans and music lovers who love to indulge in her coveted cover videos and original music. Her music, pop/R&B with a touch of soul, has amassed millions of streams on Spotify and many shares across social media outlets and editorial write-ups.

Q: How would you describe the music you play?

“I would describe my sound and my style as pop R&B with a touch of soul as well. I love the pop world; I love pop melodies. I was here originally to do country music, and I loved it, it’s what I grew up on, but as I got older, I started wanting to dive more into a side that I'd never touched on before and I fell in love with just the pop and R&B way of writing, production, and the showmanship of it all. My favourite singer is Whitney Houston and I think she is such a soul icon, obviously pop too, but her soul touch to her voice has always been something that taught me and guided me as I got older.”

Q: How did you get first started as a singer?

“I have really been singing all my life. But I really started singing in church and in school talent shows when I was very young – like, in grade school.”

Q: If you weren't performing for a living, what do you think you would be doing instead?

“I think I would want to be a writer. I always excelled in that in school, and it always came naturally to me. I am also a big fan of fashion and everything – so I think I would enjoy writing for a magazine and taking part in that community.”

Q: What advice would you give to our guests visiting Nashville and wanting to experience its music scene?

“You have the Broadway strip, and you can then go to Printer's Alley and see more of the bluesy, R&B stuff as well. If you're wanting to experience more of the original music scene, some great nights you can look at are Whiskey Jam, Bus Call and Nashville Tour Stop – those are some of my favourites.  Some venues that really display that well are Cambria, The Listening Room, 3rd and Lindsley, and a bunch of other places hold writer’s rounds that you can find online.”

Four Seasons guests can find Rachel Horter’s website here as well as staying in touch with her music events on her social channels on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
