Club Lounge: Elevated Island Design by KES Studio

At Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina, a new chapter in design unfolds with the debut of a reimagined guest experience—led by the visionaries at KES Studio. KES Studio has transformed the aesthetic for the Resort’s new Club Lounge and the Club’s guest rooms through a lens of modern luxury, cultural resonance, and tranquil sophistication. Drawing inspiration from the textures, rhythms, and palette of Hawaii, the design team sought to create a serene sanctuary—one that honours Hawaiian tradition while intersecting with the living culture.

Inspired by the rhythm of the sea, the spirit of aloha, and the artistry of the islands, KES Studio layered each space with intention. Neutral palettes, tactile textures, and organic forms evoke a sense of calm, while subtle design details—such as carpets echoing the ebb and flow of waves or textiles that nod to kapa patterns—anchor the interiors in place without relying on overt motifs.

“Our vision was to create spaces for both the Club Lounge and new guest rooms that are both elevated and grounded—spaces where the spirit of the islands is felt through materiality, form, and storytelling,” notes Kara Smith, Founder and Principal of KES Studio. “From the layered neutrals and rich accents inspired by native flora, every detail is rooted in place without being overtly thematic.”

A highlight of the design is the Resort’s new art collection woven throughout the Club Lounge and Club’s guest rooms, which is a celebration of Hawaii’s vibrant creative community. KES Studio hand-selected works by artists from Oahu and neighbouring islands, including Kristen Reyno of Lola Pilar, JT Ojerio of Aloha De Mele, Haunani Hess, Kalani Largusa, and more. From bold mixed-media pieces to delicate wood carvings, the artwork spans a variety of mediums, adding layers of narrative and authenticity throughout the Club Lounge and the accompanying guest rooms.

From custom furnishings and woven textures to contemporary kapa-inspired patterns, the refreshed Club guest rooms and new Club Lounge embody a story of reconnection—to nature and to culture. KES Studio’s design not only elevates the guest experience—it reflects the beauty of Oahu in a way that feels both meaningful and modern.
