Hit the Hawaiian Trails in Debut Hiking Retreat at Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort
One of the country’s most famous naturalists, John Muir, said “Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.” With many wellness travellers seeking outdoor adventures on their travels, the first hiking retreat at Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort offers beautiful vistas, treks for all abilities, dining by Nobu and relaxing spa experiences for an active Hawaiian adventure. The six-days, five-nights inaugural retreat will take place April 29 - May 4, 2024. There, hiking enthusiasts will enjoy easy-to-moderate trails that combine breath-taking views of Lanai’s lush landscapes, island history, cultural and activities alongside Sensei’s signature wellness programming.
Facilitated by expert Sensei Guides and Lanai Adventure Park guides, the program delivers enriching wellness guidance within the island’s most inspiring settings. Along with hikes, participants will enjoy a sunset sail on Lanai II, a 65 foot (20 metre) luxury catamaran with evening pupus and rejuvenate with spa treatments such as aquatic bodywork and lomi lomi in a 1,000 square foot (93 square metre) spa hale featuring infrared saunas, steam rooms, indoor and outdoor showers, ofuro baths and more. The island of Lanai is rich in contrasts, offering secluded sandy beaches, red rock fields and cool mountains yielding vistas, on a clear day, of neighbour islands. Sensei Lanai sits in Koele – the lush, green upcountry said to be named for the moisture-laden clouds that came down from the mountain gulches. The first hike, the Hii Trail, combines the challenge of gradual elevation climbs with beautiful cultural landmarks, a planting activity of the Ti leaf, a native plant currently being restored to the area, as well as breath-taking vistas of the Palawai Basin. As guests traverse Kaiholena, they’ll embark on an awe-inspiring second hike with diverse landscapes including majestic Cook pines that define the spiritual uplands of Lanai. A sunrise hike will lead guests along former pineapple fields and a rare dryland forest, all the way to the legendary Keahiakawelo - a dramatic, windswept rock garden with unforgettable views.
The Hiking Retreat at Sensei Lanai begins at USD 9,815 (single) and USD 15,380 (double) for the five-night program; space is limited. Guests can book by contacting a travel professional or +1 808 862 2307.
