Romero's path into hospitality was anything but conventional. After working in the medical field, a curiosity about the industry led her to a hostess role at Nobu and ONE FORTY. The guest-focused environment called to her, leading to a full-time Ambassador role and a new career.

Her instinct for people, shaped by hands-on experience and the guidance of strong mentors who recognised her potential, has refined her ability to anticipate needs, read a room and deliver service that feels genuinely personal.

As the first Guest Experience Manager at Sensei Lanai, Romero has built the role from the ground up. Where others might have found the ambiguity daunting, she embraced it, creating processes, establishing structure and laying a foundation designed to outlast her own tenure in the position. Her goal is characteristically generous: to leave things better than she found them so that whoever steps into the role next has every tool needed to succeed from day one.  

What she loves most, perhaps counterintuitively, is a service recovery moment. While others might dread a guest concern, she sees it for what it truly is: an opportunity to listen, to problem-solve and to turn something difficult into something memorable. That ability to transform a challenging moment into a genuine connection is, in many ways, her greatest professional gift.

Away from work, she is self-taught on both guitar and piano, a former member of a family band who still carries music close. She is happiest at Hulopoe Bay, snorkelling in the clear waters, gardening or gathering around a cookout with her husband, their adult children and their beloved mini dachshunds, Katsu, Ume and Ace, alongside their Lanai Lion cat, Dakota-Ash.
