Jakob’s culinary journey began in the Austrian Alps, where he started his apprenticeship at the age of 16. The alpine landscape and its rich culinary traditions instilled in him a dedication to quality and authenticity that has guided his career ever since.
Over the years, Jakob has worked with renowned luxury hospitality brands across Europe and Asia, including Kempinski, The Ritz-Carlton, and Mandarin Oriental. Though trained in Western cuisine, he developed a deep passion for Asian cooking during his time in China and Thailand, and he loves to recreate those dishes in his own kitchen. His culinary philosophy centers on creating memorable dining experiences that honour local ingredients while embracing global influences.
Outside of work, Jakob maintains a disciplined fitness routine — he is an avid runner who completed his first marathon in 2024 and looks forward to running along Jinji Lake. He also enjoys exploring new restaurants and travelling with his wife, always seeking fresh inspiration for his craft. Now joining Four Seasons Hotel Suzhou, Jakob is excited to bring his international expertise to the team and to create unforgettable dining experiences for guests.
