Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi Celebrates the Holiday Season with a Classic Festive Afternoon Tea Overlooking Tokyo Station
This December, Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi welcomes the holiday season with a Festive Afternoon Tea at MAISON MARUNOUCHI, overlooking Tokyo Station. Available from December 1, 2026, the experience created by French-born Executive Pastry Chef Nicolas Maugard, brings together classic flavours and playful yuletide touches. Red and green accents, delicate snowflake decorations and Christmas tree motifs bring the display to life, while spiced carrot cake, freshly baked scones and a ruby-red welcome drink add to the occasion. The savoury selection offers an equally celebratory touch, featuring Japanese holiday-inspired fried chicken, smoked salmon layered with cream cheese and salmon roe, and a rich hairy crab bisque.
Classic Holiday Flavours, Beautifully Presented
Standout items include the L’obscur - Strawberry, Pistachio Festive Cake, which takes inspiration from the baubles that adorn Christmas trees. Shaped like a miniature ornament and finished with a glossy red glaze, the dessert pairs sweet-tart strawberry mousse with pistachio mousse and raspberry confit at its centre. The brightness of the berries balances the rounded, nutty notes of pistachio, creating a refreshing contrast to the more indulgent pastries.
L’hiver - Mont-Blanc Tartlet, Chestnut and Vanilla
celebrates a French pâtisserie favourite. A crisp tart shell and toasted almond dacquoise form the base, layered with chestnut compote, chestnut cream and airy vanilla Chantilly. Finished with a generous coating of chestnut paste and a star-shaped decoration, the tart showcases the natural sweetness of chestnuts alongside contrasting textures.
For chocolate lovers, Intensité - Chocolate Financier, Dark Chocolate brings together three expressions of cocoa. A moist dark chocolate financier is topped with chocolate cream and whipped chocolate ganache montée. The combination offers a satisfying balance of textures, with deep cocoa notes and a lingering bittersweet finish.
The pastry selection also includes spiced carrot cake and freshly baked scones, bringing the comforting aromas of holiday baking to the table. Together with the ornament-inspired confections and red welcome drinks, they create a display that is as inviting to look at as it is to enjoy.
Savoury Favourites with a Japanese Touch
Beyond the pastries, the savoury menu draws inspiration from local dining customs and ingredients at their peak during the colder months.
Marunouchi Festive Fried Chicken, House Pickles offers a playful take on Japan's popular tradition of enjoying fried chicken during Christmas. Served as a bite-sized canapé, the golden, crisp chicken is accompanied by homemade pickles, whose acidity cuts through the richness of the coating.
The Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Mille Crepes, Ikura combines thin layers of crêpe with smoked salmon and cream cheese, creating an attractive cross-section. Topped with salmon roe, the dish brings together the buttery flavours of smoked fish, smooth cream cheese and ikura.
Completing the selection is Creamy Kegani Crab Bisque, Ebi Oil showcasing one of Japan's prized winter seafood ingredients. Hairy crab is transformed into a smooth, concentrated bisque that captures its umami. A finishing touch of aromatic prawn oil enhances the appetizer, making it a comforting addition to the afternoon tea.
The Festive Afternoon Tea is available from December 1 to 30 and is priced at JPY 12,000. For reservations, book online or call +81 3 5222 5880.
