Winter Off the Slopes at Four Seasons Resort Whistler

Whistler, Canada

A ski holiday at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler doesn’t necessarily mean hitting the slopes. For guests who prefer to stay at basecamp, or splurge on a day of rest and repose, Whistler is host to a bevy of activities. Our concierge desk has compiled a three day itinerary of some of our favourite off-the-mountain activities, no ski boots required.

Day One

Explore the heights of the Coast Mountains with a private helicopter flight. Arranged through Blackcomb Helicopters, these private tours take guests over 12,000-year-old glaciers, alpine lakes, crevasses and mountain peaks. One-up skiers by heading to Braidwood Tavern at Four Seasons Resort Whistler for an après-helicopter drink and dinner.  Choose from Braidwood’s extensive beer program, as well as an exclusive ale only found at Braidwood, and pair with an elevated pub fare such as the Brohm Lake duckling carnitas poutine with poached duck egg. Try a nightcap from the playful cocktail menu such as the Chai Mezcalita with mezcal, tequila blanco and in-house made apple chai syrup. Top off an evening with a soak in the hot tubs or relax on the heated pool deck.

Day Two

A leisurely and spontaneous day can be spent taking in the sparkle of fresh snow from the iconic Peak 2 Peak Gondola, offering unbridled views of Whistler Village, glaciers, mountain tops and lakes. A special glass-bottom gondola can be requested for an immersive experience floating high above Whistler’s evergreen forest.

Four Seasons Resort Whistler also has an on-site Spa. Spend an afternoon luxuriating with one of the spa’s signature treatments such as the Sea to Sky massage, a warming, flowing massage followed by a cleansing seawood exfoliation.

Do a day of indulgence right by tucking into an enhanced dining experience at SIDECUT Steakhouse at Four Seasons Resort Whistler. To start, award-winning mixologist Lauren Mote presents her artfully crafted cocktails such as the London Mountain with hygge chai-infused vodka, dry sherry and black current. Prime hand-cut steaks are on the menu as well as showstopping dishes to share such as the long bone steak or cedar plank steelhead, each carved tableside. Consider it dinner and a show. Head to the vintage camper to end the night on a sweet note with a signature Tipsy Snowman hot chocolate and roast a s’mores on our outdoor fire.

Day Three

In the mood for an adventure? We have some ideas. One of our favourite ways to discover the Whistler backcountry is with a snowmobile tour. Our personal recommendation: The Adventure Group Wilderness Ride, suited for adventurous beginners and intermediate riders, taking guests to Whistler’s pristine, powdery backcountry. For a more elevated adventure, Whistler’s exhilarating zipline tours, a safe and secure solo flight through old-growth forests for a truly unique perspective of the landscape.

Keep exploring with a romp through Whistler’s vibrant après scene. Grab a pint at local favourite Dubh Linn Gate pub or hit Basalt Wine & Salumeria for a glass of BC gamay noir.

Rest up after a day exploring with a cosy and intimate in-room dining experience. Ordered through the Four Seasons App, guests can return home and have a homey, comforting meal such as a velvety Fraser Valley butter chicken Indian-style or a spicy tofu stir-fry.
