Chef Marios Papadopoulos discovered his passion for cooking during his time in the Greek army, where preparing meals for others sparked his curiosity and love for the culinary craft. This experience inspired him to pursue formal training at Alpine Centre, a Switzerland-affiliated hospitality school, where he earned his Diploma in Culinary Arts and laid the foundation for a global career built on skill, passion, and cultural discovery.
He began his professional journey at Copthorne Gatwick in London, taking his first steps into the world of international hospitality. He then spent six years in Shanghai, where immersion in Asian flavours and traditions expanded his culinary perspective. His next chapter took him to Hurghada, Egypt, where seven years in all-inclusive resorts strengthened his operational expertise and connection to Egyptian culture.
Chef Marios went on to spend five years in the Middle East, refining his craft in luxury hotel environments such as InterContinental Doha and Rosewood Jeddah. He later added two enriching years in Vietnam at Vinpearl, completing another vibrant chapter in his Asian experience.
Now serving as Chef de Cuisine at Zoe Restaurant, Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence, Chef Marios proudly showcases his Mediterranean roots through his cooking philosophy that emphasizes simplicity, freshness, and authenticity. “For me, Mediterranean cuisine is all about honesty,” he explains. “It’s about the olive oil, the herbs, the sun-kissed ingredients, and the warmth of sharing good food with people you care about.” His dishes are a reflection of home-style Mediterranean flavours elevated with refined technique and a joyful spirit.
Proud to be part of Four Seasons, Chef Marios considers the brand the ultimate destination for culinary professionals who value excellence and creativity. Outside the kitchen, he enjoys spending time with his children, watching basketball, taking long walks, and listening to heavy metal music.
