Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Organises Its 17th Run of Hope to Raise Funds for the Geneva League Against Cancer

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 9:00 am, Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva will host the 17th edition of the Run of Hope. Open to all, from seasoned runners to families with children, the event invites the community to come together in support of the Geneva League Against Cancer. The race begins at 9:30 am on Île Rousseau, with participants choosing between a 5km or 10km course. More than just a sporting challenge, the Run of Hope reflects the Hotel’s ongoing commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.
Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva has long been actively involved in the fight against cancer, organising its annual Run of Hope in support of the Geneva League Against Cancer. The event welcomes runners, walkers, children, and parents with pushchairs, offering everyone the opportunity to participate in a convivial moment while contributing to a shared cause.
The Run of Hope initiative traces its origins to 1980, when Terry Fox, a 22-year-old athlete who had lost his leg to bone cancer, made headlines by attempting to run across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Over the course of 143 days, he covered 5,374 kilometres (3,339 miles), averaging a marathon a day. His journey was cut short when cancer spread to his lungs, and he passed away less than a year later. By then, he had raised nearly 24 million Canadian dollars, achieving his dream of collecting one dollar for every Canadian.
Inspired by Fox’s determination, Four Seasons Founder Isadore Sharp made a personal commitment to support the cause. He wrote to 999 Canadian executives asking them to rally behind cancer research. Following Fox’s passing, Sharp and Four Seasons organised the first Terry Fox Run in 1981. Today, more than 9,000 Terry Fox Runs take place around the world each year, all organised and run on a voluntary basis.
Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva has proudly continued this legacy. Since organising its first Run of Hope in 2008, the Hotel has raised more than CHF 130,000 since 2015 alone. The funds directly support people affected by cancer and their families, providing tailored assistance according to individual needs. Professionals from the Geneva League Against Cancer accompany patients throughout their illness, offering guidance and emotional support. The organisation also funds medical research and plays an active role in prevention and health promotion across the region.
The Run of Hope charity run in commemoration of Terry Fox is non-competitive and is open to all abilities.
