Bringing loved ones together through unique culinary experiences

October 28, 2024,
Golden Triangle, Thailand

Deep within the bamboos of Northern Thailand, Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle has come to represent an adventure outpost that redefines the classic camp-style holiday experience. And as the year-end festivities draw close, this one-of-a-kind luxury offering takes the celebration up a notch further with truly special dining and immersive cultural experiences. “Guests staying at the Camp during the holidays can look forward to elaborate culinary journeys that showcase the vibrant convergence of South-East Asian cultures at this unique destination,” smiles Paweena Waraha, Camp Manager.

Beginning with an enchanting Loy Krathong celebration, where guests craft and float their own krathongs, to the Golden Triangle Christmas Extravaganza and spectacular New Year’s Eve Dinner, this year’s festive dining experiences offer a journey into the local conflux of Thai, Laotian, and Burmese cultures.

Celebrating Loy Krathong: A Fusion of Culture, Spirituality, and Nature

A deeply significant Thai festival celebrated annually during November, Loy Krathong or "Floating Lantern Festival," brings Thai people together to pay their respects to the Goddess of Water, Phra Mae Khongkha. “Celebrants release decorative, floral floats called krathongs into rivers, lakes, and other water-bodies as a symbolic offering to the river deity,” explains Paweena. At Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, the Loy Krathong celebrations are more than just a festive meal — allowing visitors to see first-hand the synchrony between Thai culture, spirituality, and the environment. Guests will not only be treated to an outstanding Northern Thai Khan Tok meal in a private pavilion by the river, but also participate in the symbolic tradition of crafting and floating krathongs. “Our local experts at the Camp will help you create beautiful floating vessels from natural, eco-friendly material so that may you release your own krathong into the river and embrace a fresh start,” she shares. The celebration continues with cocktails and canapés at Burma Bar, followed by a three-course, family-style Khan Tok meal by the riverside, curated specially for the occasion by the Camp Chef, Sirintip Sianglert.

Holiday Fervour

Celebrating Christmas in the tranquil wilderness of the Golden Triangle is an experience like no other. Instead of a typical Christmas tree lighting, guests can join the team in releasing traditional Northern Thai paper-lanterns into the starry night sky, embracing a time-honoured local practice. “Dinner will be served riverside at a long, family-style dining table, where the warmth of togetherness creates a genuinely intimate and romantic atmosphere,” shares Sirintip. This exotic feast will feature the best of international and Thai festive flavours, along with live music, and folk-dance performances to round-off a magical Christmas in the jungle.

Kicking off the countdown to the New Year is an all-access “sundowner and snacks” sojourn at the Burma Bar, where the last sunset of the year will grace the occasion with its iconic golden glow over the horizon. “The signature themed dinner at Nong Yao restaurant is my ode to the Golden Triangle,” smiles Sirintip, as she delivers an exquisite selection of Thai, Laotian, and Burmese dishes, while a Lanna Kard Mua, (Northern local-market) concept of dessert stalls will ensure a festive post-dinner ambience. The night-long celebration will have an electric atmosphere charged with a blend of live music, Thai folk dances, local drum troupe, and a riverside fireworks display to help countdown to the midnight hour.

“Set your calendar up for some unique year-end revelry at one of the most alluring destinations in Asia,” beams Paweena, “Let our unique setting work its enchantment on you: from family-style feasts at our stunning riverside, to fascinating cultural activities that take you deep into the vibrant local way of life, this year’s holiday itinerary promises to make your visit to the Golden Triangle an unforgettable escape!”
