Winter Dome by Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto

A private wonderland in Kyoto’s oldest pond garden
February 3, 2020,
Kyoto, Japan

As an encore to summer’s celebrated Champagne Garden, Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto announce the launch of its Kamakura (igloo) Winter Dome by Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto: a gleaming glass venue in the city’s only 800-year old pond garden.

Available daily through March 22, 2020 between 11:30 am and 10:00 pm, groups of up to six can book a 90-minute experience in their own transparent heated dome positioned on the first floor terrace of the Hotel’s Brasserie restaurant. Included in the promotion is a limitless flow of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut Champagne and a Chef Ryuji Koga-prepared appetiser plate featuring four creative canapés.

A unique installation – one of only two such experiences in Japan – the Winter Dome offers guests a rare opportunity to enjoy the quiet serenity of Kyoto’s winter landscape away from the bustle of the city. Time seems to slow down within its curved walls, allowing for a true appreciation of the poetic beauty of Shakusui-en: the Hotel’s 800-yeard old pond garden. Dating back the Heian Period, it is believed to be the mountain villa garden of Shigemori Taira (Lord Komatsu) – eldest son of the 12th-century samurai Kiyomori Taira – and its peaceful grandeur is evident to this day.

Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto is a unique environment to commune with the city’s mesmerising nature and culture.  Located in the central temple district, it places guests in the heart of old-world streets and authentic beauty while simultaneously offering every modern convenience and luxury. Add the ancient garden setting - plus activities ranging from saké tasting and geiko experiences to private tea ceremonies – and guests are treated to an enriching immersion into the beating heart of Japan’s ancient Imperial capital.

Winter Dome price: JPY 10,000/person (subject to 15 percent service charge and 10 percent consumption tax)  includes free-flow of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut Champagne and four creative canapés by Ryuji Koga. Reservations required.
