Taking Care of the Mangroves with Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen

Shenzhen, China

As part of an ongoing commitment to positively impact communities and the environment, Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen is launching hotel-wide initiatives to support a local mangrove ecological park. In partnership with the Mangrove Conservation Foundation (MCF), the forward-thinking city Hotel is launching a donation program and exclusive room package, Mangrove Magic, to help raise funds, while also collecting coffee grounds to aid composting.

Do Good at Yi Lounge

The Futian Mangrove Ecological Park, just 10 minutes’ drive from the Hotel, is a free natural area managed by the MCF to serve as a buffer zone between the city and a neighbouring Nature Reserve. For every coffee sold at Yi Lounge, the Hotel will donate CNY 2 to the MCF, while the waste coffee grounds are used to create nutrient-rich compost to support the ecological restoration of mangrove wetland ecosystems. Guests can also do their bit to help; monthly donate via a simple-to-use QR code at Yi Lounge (minimum donation CNY 30) and pick up a select take-out coffee for just CNY 38 as a thank you.

Mangrove Magic Room Package

Migratory waterbirds are an important indicator of wetland ecosystem health. Found only in East Asia, Black-faced Spoonbills are endangered waterbirds benefitting from conservation efforts, and they also feature in the Hotel’s room package. Alongside daily buffet breakfast for two adults and one child under 12, the Mangrove Magic Room Package (starting from CNY 1,700*) includes a cute Black-faced Spoonbill bird plush toy, an eco-friendly reusable cloth bag, Futian Mangrove Ecological Park guidebook and entry to the park’s exhibition hall.

“In our dynamic metropolis, it’s easy to forget how close we are to such incredible biodiversity,” comments Nicholas Liang, General Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen. “Not only does this collaboration help celebrate the beautiful nature on our doorstep but it allows us all to play an active part in its conservation. We’re honoured to be able to support inspiring environmental initiatives in fun and enjoyable ways for our guests.”
