Here, couples can discover the Resort’s herb and vegetable garden where the chef examines fresh, indigenous ingredients used in the cooking lesson. “A stop at the traditional Thai spirit house to receive a blessing is essential,” he adds. A hands-on lesson in preparing delicious Thai dishes follows, where the principles of Thai cuisine and the equipment essential to a Thai kitchen are discovered. “Enjoy your preparations over lunch afterwards,” says the chef. Guests can choose from one of six signature programs, each offering a unique culinary adventure.

Guests can scour the streets together, savouring local street food, admiring captivating street performances, and discovering unique souvenirs—a delightful and charming way to spend an evening together. “The old-world charm of Chiang Mai is one to be discovered by foot,” he suggests or renting bicycles to explore the historic Old City. From ancient temples and charming alleyways, to marvel traditional architecture, the backdrop is romantic and enchanting all at once. “Don't miss the sunset at Wat Phra Singh, where the temple's golden spires and intricate architecture transform into a magical spectacle,” Nair recommends.

In the serene Mae Rim district, the Wat Pa Dara Pirom Buddhist Temple stands as a testament to Lanna style architecture, surrounded by lush tropical flora. “While the temple is popular with guests, it is not as crowded,” he tips. The most interesting aspect of visiting this site is to be able to have a one-on-one chat with the monks, organised exclusively for the Resort's guests.

Floral Wonders: Experiencing Chiang Mai’s Blossoming Beauty

A visit in early February is highlighted by the annual Chiang Mai Flower Festival, which celebrates the local people’s love for flowers. “Stroll hand-in-hand through the vibrant flower display, enjoy floral parades, and immerse yourselves in the beauty of the city in full bloom,” smiles Tschudin. There are a few places worth visiting, such as the Royal Park Rajapruek with large greenhouses and beautifully arranged exotic plants, with an often-photographed temple at its centre. For the adventurous, a drive up to the top of Doi Suthep with a stop at the Faculty of Agriculture owned by Chiang Mai University is especially notable during the cherry blossom season in the early part of the year.

Chiang Mai’s love for nature is further displayed at the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden, the first of its kind in the country. “The garden encompasses more than 220 hectares (550 acres) of space, which allows for various climates catering to an array of different plants,” shares Nair. “While you will find plenty of plants native to the area, you can also see exotic species, typically found in an Asian tropical rainforest. The walking trails can turn your visit into a more romantic experience with breath-taking scenery.”
