Feel a sense of home in the Resort’s Private Retreats – from Canopy Villas with private plunge pools perched on the natural cliffside to Prieta Bay homes with architectural touches and indoor/outdoor living spaces. Guests can celebrate the season with in-villa experiences such poolside movies with a large screen and popcorn or a Costa Rican fiesta with Cimarronas and  Mascaradas, giant puppets that entertain with a small band. Private Retreat guests can also enjoy in-villa dinners, cooking class and private wellness experiences.

Thanksgiving Week

• Latin American Asado, November 23 at Nemare, 5:30 pm - Savour a Latin American tradition with the Asado -- a live-fire culinary gathering with a variety of cuts of grilled proteins with the Guanacaste sunset as backdrop. Choose from dedicated stations, an array of side dishes and homemade sauces, and many plant-based options.
• Thanksgiving Dinner, November 28 at Bahia, 5:00 pm - Enjoy turkey dinner with all the trimmings, in paradise. Guests can select their favourite side dishes with a bit of Costa Rican inspiration.
• Thanksgiving for Kids, November 28 at Blanca Beach, 5:30 pm -The little ones will enjoy their own special Thanksgiving at Blanca Beach, filled with fun beach activities, festive crafts, and a delicious feast of their favourite treats. It’s a joyful day of laughter and holiday magic by the sea, creating memories they’ll cherish forever.

• Noche Buena Dinner, December 24 at Bahia, 5:30 pm - Celebrate Christmas eve Latin style with a traditional Costa Rican Noche Buena. Expect tamales and other Latin American delicacies.
• Santa’s Beach Party, December 25 at Virador Beach, 9:00 am - Trade sand for snow at Santa’s annual beach bash on Virador Beach along with a party crasher – the Grinch. A fun-family event followed by Christmas Brunch.
• Papagayo Street Fair, December 26 at Nemare, 5:30 pm - Peninsula Papagayo comes alive with this bi-annual event. Feel like a local and experience the genuine essence of Costa Rican craftspeople, along with artisanal shopping, local cuisine, live music, games, and food trucks.
• Wellness Concert, December 29 at The Wellness Shala, 5:00 pm - Become immersed in a sensorial experience like no other at The Wellness Shala with the healing vibrations of Tapado Vargas, Grammy award winner renowned for his mastery of percussion and deep connection to the rhythms of nature, brings a unique wellness concert to life.

New Year’s

• New Year’s Eve Bash, December 31 at Virador Beach, 5:00 pm - Ring in the New Year in total paradise at Peninsula Papagayo. Dance the night away under the stars and take a dip in the ocean to mark midnight.

Explore the Peninsula and Beyond

• Tree Top Picnic - An add-on experience to the Explorers roster of adventure. Guests are suspended 20 feet (6 metres) above the ground, while a picnic basket is pulled up from the ground.  Enjoy a light lunch and the majestic view from the treetop canopy.
• Night Aerial - Swing through the zipline experience, march down hanging bridges and take in the sights and sounds of the Palmares Reserve after dark. Culminate the experience in a thrilling freefall jump into the darkness below.
• Snorkelling and Outrigger Canoe - Explore the turquoise waters of bays surrounding Peninsula Papagayo in a traditional outrigger canoe. Hop out to explore the underwater life and encounter turtles, rays, fish and even whales.

Golf and Tennis Events

• Beachside Birdies - Guests can compete with the golf pros as the sunset goes down. Grab a drink at Virador Beach Club and enjoy this interactive activity.
• Night Golf - As a compliment to Latin American asado, guests can test their golf skills with practice swings to hole 18 from the Nemare lawn.
• Glow Pickle - As the sun sets over Peninsula Papagayo, the pickle ball courts light up the night at the Tennis Center. This is a mixer of all levels and guests are encouraged to wear neon colours to really stand out.

• S’mores and Ice Cream - Watch the sunset and snack on a treat with this complimentary beach pop-up. A fun family activity for all.
• Pitchers and Grill - An casual beach dinner with fan favourite menu items such as burgers, tacos, and a cold one.
• Tacos and Churros - Savour the flavours of Central America during this interactive culinary pop-up. Guests can pick and choose taco toppings along with tasty churros.
