Behind the Design Inspiration

Interior design firm Marzipan’s vision for Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero is centred on a celebration of the world-class panoramic views that predominate the guest room interiors, key moments in the region’s history and symbols of the city itself. 

By using crisp, contemporary window shades that sit within a bespoke framework detail, the designers have allowed the sense of place to be an integral part of the design solution.

Vibrant accent colours in custom-designed hand-tufted wool rugs are a perfect balance to the character of the exquisite new natural wood floors. An exquisite wallcovering with threads of gold woven through highlight the bar area and pay homage to the city’s gold rush history.

Layers of luxury are added with unique furnishings designed by Marzipan working hand in hand with some of the greatest craftsmen making furniture for the hospitality industry today.

Closet millwork is updated with a fresh urban grey exterior, new hardware, and a surprising splash of colour on the interior. The headboard elevation showcases furniture and lighting inspired by San Francisco’s renowned streetcars and refined details influenced by aspects of local architecture.

The guest room bathrooms are transformed with a complete renovation combining both classical and contemporary materials in a tranquil, cool-toned colour palette. Clean, light, modern lines that seamlessly support the urban views are enhanced with subtle, well considered detailing in vanity millwork, lighting, bathroom fixtures and accessories.
