Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An Honours Earth Day with Impactful Green Initiatives

April 16, 2024,
Hoi An, Vietnam

Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai will join the world on Earth Day 2024 in driving positive environmental impact for the planet. Commemorated yearly on April 22, Earth Day is a global environmental movement created in 1970 by 20 million individuals to call for greater protection for our planet.

“Four Seasons Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) program is centred around two pillars – the planet (environment impact) and the people (social impact). We are excited to support the company’s sustainability goals and take action on the importance of environmental conservation for a healthier planet and a brighter future for the next generation,” says Resort Manager Michael Casey, a passionate environmental advocate who leads a dedicated Four Seasons For Good team in preserving and regenerating the Resort grounds.

Earth Day Experiences

As a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, the Resort invites guests from all ages to honour the movement with a series of thoughtful green activities:

  • Kid-Friendly Sustainable Activities. Chuon Chuon Kids Club has prepared a list of eco-friendly activities to inspire young jetsetters to love Mother Earth. Kids aged four to eleven are encouraged to join the gardeners at the mini composting site built in the Resort garden to experience first-hand composting exercises. The garden pavilion also conducts cooking classes for kids to learn cooking dishes such as delicious Summer Spring Roll and colourful Fruits Skewers.
  • Vietnamese Home Remedies. In a traditional Vietnamese home, natural remedies made from organic herbs are used as healing properties. The Heart of the Earth Spa team invites guests to learn how to make Vietnamese home remedies such as ginger paste, foot scrub and refreshing body mist using fresh herbs from the Resort garden.
  • Eco-Flower Arrangement. Master the art of flower arrangements with the Resort florist who will share her expertise with guests. Using fresh petals from the garden, guests will explore practical and sustainable techniques to handcraft elegant bouquets from scratch.
  • Sustainable Dining. The kitchen team at La Sen restaurant and Cafe Nam Hai are geared to showcase innovative low-fuel, high-flavour menus using the freshest ingredients and unique cooking techniques with minimum fire. Enjoy the delectable Crab Avocado Timbale and Prawn Summer Roll, and pair them with the Nam Hai Herbal Affair, a sustainably handcrafted beverage made from crushed mint, basil, fennel, orange and longan honey, available throughout the day at the poolside, or simply ask for a refreshing coconut plucked from Resort grounds.

Committed to Sustainability

Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai is deeply rooted in sustainability. Highlighting its commitment to sustainable tourism, the Resort is recognized as a “Green Hotel” by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Each year, the Resort garden produces more than 40 seasonal herbs, vegetables, fruits and edible flowers that supply ingredients to the kitchens for maximum freshness and sustainability while the Spa team transforms them into healing blends and wellness drinks. Home to 4,500 palm trees, all organic and natural waste from the Resort grounds and kitchens is fed into a high-grade compost to create nutritious fertilizer for the garden.

To support an environmentally friendly supply chain system, the Resort ethically sources seasonal ingredients and supports local producers from neighbouring farms and villages as part of the sustainability commitment.

Solar-powered water heaters powered all 40 Pool Villas while hydroelectric power is utilized throughout the Resort grounds. The Resort also runs a bottling plant that eliminates more than 420,000 plastic bottles or 5.8 tonnes of plastic waste every year.
