The Artful Evolution: Thrilling New Expansion Project at Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg to Include Event Space and Creative Neighbourhood Haven
At the heart of Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg lies a dedication to sharing the city’s vibrant energy and rich cultural heritage. It is with this commitment in mind that the chic hillside retreat will benefit from a USD 20 million improvement and expansion project, beginning mid-July 2023.
To minimise disruption to the guest experience, operating hours will be reduced during the initial phase of the project with construction work taking place during weekdays. The Hotel remains open every weekend and guests can make the most of an exciting break throughout the city’s stunning winter and spring months with a special Joburg Getaway offer.
A Serene City Events Space
Key to the project is a brand new 400-seater ballroom and conference venue, making the Hotel the most luxurious large-scale events spaces in Johannesburg set amid the green serenity of a beautiful urban forest. Wedding couples and local and international businesses alike will relish the proximity to South Africa’s largest city, while savouring the Hotel’s tree-dappled courtyards, fountains and gardens, world-class dining and superlative Four Seasons service.
Socialising in Style
Celebrating South Africa’s lively social culture, further enhancements include a bright and buzzing new Lobby, featuring uplifting local artwork and inspiring ambiance. Whether catching up with friends, hosting a meeting, or simply savouring the sunlit foliage from the outdoor seating, the creative hub-style Lobby will be an invitation to come together in a calm city oasis. Elsewhere in the Hotel, public spaces and guest rooms will receive artful design tweaks and additions.
Connection to the city’s culture and heritage is part of the Hotel’s vision, with the expansion’s design a homage to Johannesburg’s mining history thanks to the liberal use of local stone and materials. Engagement with local businesses and artisans is also woven into the plans.
“We’re thrilled to bring our guests and the local neighbourhood this exciting new evolution,” comments Martin Cody, General Manager and Regional Vice President for Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg. “Our location near the city’s business district means we’re perfectly placed to offer a large-scale events space and thriving social hub, while maintaining our sense of hillside urban retreat.”
Weekend Escape
Ensuring a sumptuous weekend break, the Hotel’s Joburg Getaway offer gives guests the chance to totally unwind with 15 percent off the Bed and Breakfast rate, and daily signature Westcliff breakfast for two. With check-in available from 3:00 pm on Friday to a midday check-out on Monday, couples and friends can enjoy an inspiring and restorative escape soaking up all the Hotel and surrounding area has to offer.
From Spice-rubbed Sea Bass and a sundowner at Flames to a cosy Maple Rum Hot Toddy and Pulled Pork Soft Tacos at the all-new PreView Winter Bar with its dazzling forest vista, the Hotel boasts a range of divine dining options. After exploring the local area with its shopping, arts district, new museum and on-trend restaurants, Four Seasons Spa Westcliff – complete with the only outdoor spa lounge in the city - invites total relaxation through treatments harnessing nature’s botanicals.
Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff will be closed during the week from July 17 to September 15, 2023. Flames restaurant will be open Thursday and Friday evenings from 6:00 to 11:00 pm; all day Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 am to 11:00 pm, including for a sumptuous signature Sunday brunch served from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
