Chef Rudi Liebenberg brings over 30 years of experience from some of South Africa’s most iconic kitchens, including The Saxon and Cape Town’s Mount Nelson, where he championed sustainability and authentic, heartfelt dining.
A Johannesburg native, Rudi built a career defined by creativity, integrity, and respect for every ingredient. His international journey has taken him to Ireland and the Caribbean, enriching his craft with new techniques, flavours, and perspectives.
Renowned for his skill in garde manger and his intricate terrines, which he likens to opening a gift, Rudi creates honest, soulful dishes that honour the farmer, the process, and the guest equally.
After more than two decades away, he returns home to Johannesburg, excited to join Four Seasons during a transformative chapter for the hotel.
When not in the kitchen, Rudi enjoys painting, walking in the mountains, and a glass of South African shiraz. He speaks English and Afrikaans, and continues to inspire with his philosophy of respect and authenticity in all he creates.
