The Importance of Kindness: Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya Creates a Wonderland of Fun for KACCH & BACCH

While international World Kindness Day falls on November 13 every year, the team at Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya wanted to extend the love a little longer. After the success of their initial collaboration with Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospital & Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospice (KACCH & BACCH) in October, the heartfelt Hotel decided to host “Wonderland Tea Time” in Elements restaurant on November 25, 2023 as a special treat for the hospice’s children and their families.

From 3:00 to 5:00 pm, the resilient youngsters and their loved ones gathered in the buzzing, market-style surrounds of Elements - its breezy, light interiors bright with colourful balloon decoration sponsored by Alissar - to feast on a range of savoury and sweet treats. From mini quiches, bao bun sliders and toasted sandwiches to mouth-watering brownies and cakes, the menu centred on bite-size delights perfect for little hands and mouths.

An ice cream cart spread smiles with wonderland-inspired flavours while a chocolate fountain and cupcake-decorating activity ensured a playful, interactive element for the brave guests. Other happiness-inducing experiences included games and entertainment such as balloon sculpture, air hockey, Play-Doh modelling, fooball, and colouring while “real life” characters such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Princess Elsa and Barney lifted spirits.

The Wonderland Tea Time was a natural next-step from the success of the Hotel’s heart-warming “Hats On” event – a fun celebration where everyone turned up in their choice of headwear in support of children with life limiting and life threatening conditions who are in need of palliative care - that took place on October 13, 2023. The Four Seasons For Good team visited Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospice (BACCH) to set up a food stand filled with treats, drinks and desserts, and provide fun activities such as face painting and games.

“It was a privilege to be able to support these incredible children and their families through our collaboration with KACCH & BACCH at both events,” comments Martin Kipping, General Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya. “Witnessing the kids’ faces lit up with smiles and playing happily together is something that will stay with our team forever. KACCH & BACCH

Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospital (KACCH), has been providing psychosocial support services for children and families in hospitals across Kuwait since its establishment in 1989. Its mission is to provide Child Life services and psychosocial and therapeutic play for children and their families to minimize the adverse impact of illness and hospitalization. Currently, KACCH operates eight Child Life programs in eight government hospitals in Kuwait. Bayt Abdullah was established as an extension to KACCH services to provide specialized palliative care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, ensuring a focus on quality of life and the best possible day-to-day care. Bayt Abdullah was officially opened under the patronage of the late Amir of Kuwait, H.H. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in January 2012. In 2020, KACCH & BACCH amalgamated into one organization with a shared vision and mission to expand the level of support provided to children.
