  • Under the Green Linen Program and Towel Program, our housekeeping team changes linens every three days to reduce water usage
  • NORDAQ water, with re-used glass bottles
  • In-room laundry bags made of linen or plastic-free material
  • Guest slippers with plastic-free wrapping
  • Guest room key cards made of sustainable materials
  • Automated controls for lighting and air conditioning
  • Air conditioning that turns off automatically when the room’s sliding glass door is opened
  • Laundry returned in reusable and recyclable materials
  • Plastic-free coffee capsules, recycled regularly
  • Chidoriya bath amenities, made with locally sourced ingredients from Kyoto

  • Restaurant Brasserie supports small, local, sustainability-focused artisans, farms and suppliers, sourcing nearly 95 percent of its ingredients from within Japan

  • Compostable food and beverage carry-out packaging, straws and utensils are provided in all outlets
  • Food waste is sent to local recycling centres to be converted into livestock feed

Energy Conservation

  • LED technology throughout the Hotel for energy efficiency
  • Automated energy efficient programming for lighting and HVAC for both occupied and unoccupied guest rooms
  • Recycling – cardboard, paper, plastics, glass, aluminum, cooking oil, shampoo and soaps
  • Building Management System (BMS) – fully automated and monitored central plant system to ensure optimal performance at all times
  • Reduction in carbon dioxide output with energy-efficient type V belt implementation
  • We have installed Lutron system controls for meeting space and guest room lights
  • Landscaping lights are on timers and watering systems utilizing well water are used in Shakusui-en pond garden
  • Water flow efficiency faucets are featured in all guest rooms

Community Activities

  • We have implemented Kyoto City’s 2Rs (Reduce and Reuse) programs and continue our effort to separate and recycle garbage throughout our Hotel
  • We support the local community’s sustainability initiatives through ongoing CSR activities; for example, our employees participate in the Nanajo Bridge Cleaning every month and host educational programs for elementary and junior high schools in the neighborhood
