Dive Into Love

The waters off the secluded island of Lanai, the smallest inhabited island in Hawaii, are a diver’s dream. Lanai-based Kristin Belew of Lanai Ocean Sports is not only the Resort’s Captain and Dive Master, she is also a licensed officiant. Adventurous couples can become engaged (and even married) at First Cathedral on a private scuba dive, with a waterproof white board to write the question. The dive site features a stained glass lighting effect as the light shines through holes in side walls and ceiling of a 100-foot (30 metre) underwater lava tube, for a magical memory.

Partners to be can also craft their own perfect proposals, with inspirational ideas including:

• Love Letters – Carve a proposal in the sands of Hulopoe Beach, with the sounds of waves as background music.
• Gallop Away - The Stables at Koele, in Lanai’s lush upcountry, provide a more rustic backdrop for that special question, complete with pine trees, horses, rolling hills and breathtaking sunsets.
• Tee Time - Head up to the signature 12th hole at Manele Golf Course at sunset and get down on bended knee with jaw-dropping sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean setting the scene. Celebrate with a festive champagne toast delivered via golf cart or in room.
• On The Road - Jump in a 4x4 Jeep and head to Halepalaoa Beach, a quiet spot with nary another beachcomber in sight. Pack a picnic lunch and laze the afternoon away.

Select proposals are resort-guest specific. For seamless travel, round-trip flights from Honolulu on Lanai Air are included on all bookings with arrivals taking place by December 31, 2024.
