Four Seasons Hotel Milano Unveils a New Afternoon Treat for the Summer, Featuring Fine Pastries and Artisanal Gelato
Four Seasons Hotel Milano presents Summer Merenda, a new offering designed for afternoons in the city, transforming one of the most beloved rituals of Italian tradition into a contemporary culinary experience.
In the heart of the garden of the former convent on Via Gesù, this summer treat redefines the Milanese ritual of Merenda, featuring signature gelato, fine pastries and light cocktails — designed for those who want to escape the city’s heat.
Pastry Chef Stefano Trovisi unveils new sweet delights where selected ingredients, textures and freshness evoke a new way to experience summer, between lunch and aperitif.
"Throughout the year, our afternoon treat has highlighted the ingredients and elements that define each season. With the Summer Merenda, we’re reinterpreting a classic ritual — the afternoon treat of our childhood — with a contemporary, summery twist. The Merenda embraces summer and rediscovers the freshness of one of its symbols: ice cream. We’ve developed new ice creams in all their forms - from cups to sticks, cookies, and cones — using carefully selected ingredients. All these offerings have in common the choice of reducing sugar and fats, while highlighting premium ingredients like milk from symbiotic farming, Piedmont IGP hazelnuts, and Feudo San Biagio pistachios. Another key aspect is our focus on common food intolerances: for example, our ice cream bars are both vegan and gluten-free,” says Stefano Trovisi.
The Ice Cream Sticks combine lightness with intense flavour - in three vegan and gluten-free options: Mango & Passion Fruit – mango and passion fruit gelato with a passion fruit jelly center and a passion fruit chocolate coating; Peach & Apricot – peach gelato with semi-candied Vesuvius apricots and a chocolate coating; Raspberry & Lychee – raspberry ice cream with a lychee insert, a crunchy coating, and raspberry powder.
The Biscuit Ice Creams reinterpret a timeless classic by adding a contrast between crunchy textures and creamy notes: Peanuts & Salted Caramel – salted peanut and toffee ice cream, shortbread, and a Dulcey coating; Stracciatella Biscuit – stracciatella ice cream, cocoa shortbread, dark chocolate coating, and cocoa nibs; Tiramisu Biscuit – mascarpone ice cream with coffee cream, chocolate chip cookie, and dark chocolate coating.
The Ice Cream Cones, available in Chocolate, Pistachio, and Hazelnut, are made with premium ingredients such as IGP hazelnuts, Feudo San Biagio pistachios, and Sur del Lago chocolate. The treat offerings include also the Ice Cream Cups: Black Forest - 100% Sur del Lago chocolate sorbet, black cherries, cocoa crumble, vanilla chantilly cream flavoured with Kirsch, and chocolate shavings; Cream and Strawberries – fresh strawberry compote, strawberry and basil gel, vanilla crumble, whipped ganache, and strawberry sorbet.
All ice creams are available à la carte on the Summer Merenda menu, which complements the Stilla and Stilla Garden menus. To complete the offering, guests can also enjoy a selection of seasonal fruit, filled cream horns, ham and cheese toast, and the Regina Margherita focaccia.
The beverage selection that was a highlight of the Spring Merenda is also back: an afternoon-focused menu featuring light- and low-alcohol cocktails, along with a selection of mocktails with fresh notes. Signature drinks include the Happy Julep, Raspberry Cloud, and Strawberry Fields, alongside non-alcoholic options such as Sprizzetto, Bla, Secret Garden, and Matcha Latte.
The Merenda becomes an unmissable appointment throughout the year. While Summer Merenda reinterprets one of summer’s most beloved rituals, the “ice-cream break”, Pastry Chef Stefano Trovisi is already working on something new for autumn.
Summer Merenda is available every day from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Four Seasons Hotel Milano, from June to September.
