“There is a rhythm to commercial strategy,” says Rajat Bhatia, Commercial Director at Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai. “It’s equal parts data, intuition, and the human stories behind every booking, every partnership, every milestone.”

Rajat is a seasoned commercial strategist with more than two decades of leadership experience across Asia and the Middle East. Renowned for driving performance during dynamic market shifts, his approach blends analytical rigor with a deep understanding of people and culture—perspectives honed through impactful roles in India, Thailand, Indonesia, and the UAE.

Throughout his career, Rajat has built a reputation as a leader who thrives on transformation, clarity, and purpose‑driven commercial performance. His leadership philosophy is rooted in the belief that numbers tell only half the story—the rest comes from understanding people, places, and the narratives that shape demand.

Before joining Four Seasons, Rajat led commercial divisions for some of the region’s most respected luxury brands. At The Westin Jakarta, he drove record revenue growth, elevated the visibility of food and beverage icons like Hanshin, and championed partnerships that connected global brands with local culture. His tenure with Anantara Hotels in Bangkok saw him steering a complex cluster through rapid market shifts, launching high‑impact experiences including luxury overnight river cruises and conceptual lifestyle activations at SEEN Rooftop.

At The Leela Group, Rajat steered commercial strategy for the Western region, guiding multiple hotels and representing the brand at premier global trade shows such as IMEX Frankfurt, ILTM Cannes, and CVENT Connect. Earlier leadership roles at Madinat Jumeirah Dubai, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and the Hyderabad International Convention Centre shaped his expertise in segmentation, revenue intelligence, and large‑scale business events.

What has remained constant across every chapter of his journey is his guiding philosophy: commercial success is crafted through clarity, connection, and consistent storytelling.

“You need to understand your city, your team, your guests, and then translate that understanding into action,” he reflects. “That’s when strategy becomes meaningful.”

At Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai, Rajat now oversees all commercial functions as the property undergoes a landmark transformation. His vision is to position the hotel not only as a luxury destination, but as a vibrant cultural touchpoint for Mumbai—contemporary, elevated, and deeply connected to the city’s global energy.

“What excites me most is the opportunity to build momentum with a team that believes in excellence,” he says. “Four Seasons has a distinct style of hospitality rooted in sincerity. When commercial strategy aligns with that sincerity, it creates unforgettable guest journeys and sustainable business results.”

Outside the world of hotels, Rajat is a curious traveller, a culture enthusiast, and a proud 10K finisher—someone who believes that discipline and exploration shape both leaders and storytellers.

When asked what continues to drive him after 20+ years in the industry, he smiles: “It’s simple—the thrill of unlocking possibility. Every day brings a new opportunity to create, to connect, and to push boundaries. That’s what keeps me inspired.”
