Hawaii, Oahu, U.S.A.

Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina announces the appointment of Joseph Rose as Executive Chef.  In this role, Chef Rose will oversee all culinary operations of the 370-room luxury resort, including seven restaurants and bars, in-room dining, catering, and conference services.  Rose brings more than 20 years of culinary experience working in hotels and resorts, from Chicago to Oahu.

"My culinary philosophy centres on the belief that exceptional food begins with the highest quality ingredients, expertly prepared using classic techniques,” notes Chef Rose.  “Through meticulous attention to detail and a balanced approach to seasoning, I strive to create dishes that are both satisfying and memorable."

In his new role, Chef Rose oversees the resort’s diverse culinary offerings, including seven distinctive restaurants and lounges. From the Hawaiian-inspired American cuisine at La Hiki to Southern Italian specialties at Noe and fresh, locally sourced seafood at Mina’s Fish House to an eclectic blend at Manalo Lounge, Rose ensures each dining experience at Four Seasons Oahu reflects the vibrant flavours and culture of the island.

Rose’s journey to the kitchen began in his youth, inspired by cooking shows and high school classes in his hometown of Chicago. After earning a diploma in culinary arts, Rose began his career in the prestigious Chicago culinary scene, working his way up at dining outlets of international hotel brands, including as chef de cuisine of a restaurant that earned a Michelin star.  Rose’s impressive career includes key roles at renowned establishments such The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Chicago; Hotel Arista, Naperville, Illinois; Lockwood Restaurant & Bar, Hilton Worldwide, Chicago; Sixteen, Trump International Hotel & Tower, Chicago; West Paces Hotel Group, Chicago; and Westin Hotels & Resorts, Chicago.

Rose eventually traded in the snow for sand with a move to Hawaii in 2016.  Most recently, he was the executive chef of Wai Kai, a water and adventure park on Oahu’s western coastline that features four dining outlets. Prior to Wai Kai, Rose held executive and leadership roles at Trump International Hotel Waikiki; Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore; Baku Waikiki; and the Hyatt Waikiki.

Outside of the kitchen, Chef Rose is equally passionate about family, fitness, and adventure. Whether it’s running half-marathons, scuba diving, or taking on Spartan Races, Rose embraces an active lifestyle, often with his daughter and two dogs by his side.
