Wilson Betancur: From Opening Team to Purchasing Supervisor
One Dalton opened its doors with a team dedicated to adding to the city's already thriving luxury hospitality scene. Among them was Wilson Betancur, who joined as a houseman during the hotel's pre-opening phase in 2019. Wilson now serves as Purchasing Supervisor, a position that speaks to his growth alongside One Dalton.
Finding Home in Boston, Building a Career in Hospitality
Originally from Colombia, Wilson moved to Boston in 1998 at just 15 years old. Decades later, he remains rooted in the city he now calls home. What he values most is Boston's sense of community and structure. "It is a very prestigious city with regulations and organization in place," he says.
Wilson’s path to hospitality also began with structure and community, within his own family. His father, also from Colombia, worked as a housekeeping supervisor for many years, sparking Wilson's early interest in the industry. What truly drew Wilson into hospitality was cooking, a passion he enjoyed even outside of work, and one that naturally guided his career path. Wilson went on to work as a cook and sous chef across Boston, and his talent in the kitchen took him to Cancun, Orlando, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico, where he trained culinary teams and strengthened his leadership skills. His culinary background would soon become foundational in his next chapter.
Continued Growth
Throughout his career, Four Seasons was a company Wilson long admired, one synonymous with luxury and excellence. During a job search in 2019, he applied for a housekeeping position at One Dalton and was offered the role, marking the beginning of his Four Seasons journey.
Wilson's path at One Dalton has been one of steady growth. He started as a houseman, then transitioned to Receiver after a year, drawing on his food and beverage experience. A year later, he was promoted to Storeroom Clerk, and the following year, he became Purchasing Supervisor, the role he holds today. Wilson oversees the receiving of all products before they enter the hotel. He checks temperatures, verifies deliveries match order placement, and ensures everything meets health and safety standards. His work ensures the hotel operates smoothly from the moment supplies arrive.
A Foundation for Excellence
As part of One Dalton's opening team, Wilson had a unique experience working with his teammates to prepare each guest room before opening day. "That was my first time working through a pre-opening phase at a hotel," Wilson reflects. It was meticulous work that revealed how critical process and organization are to the hotel's greater operation. That experience is also where Wilson's appreciation for regulations, procedures, and systems deepened, skills that have served him well in his continued professional growth.
For Wilson, Four Seasons One Dalton is, in his words, "a great place to work." It's where he's built his career, moving from houseman to supervisor, and where he's found purpose in the details. He ensures every delivery meets the standard before it reaches a kitchen, a guest room, or a table. Outside of work, Wilson's passion for food continues. He loves to cook for his family, drawing on the culinary skills that first brought him into hospitality. That blend of personal passion and professional dedication captures what One Dalton represents to him: a place where dedication and growth go hand in hand, and where a houseman from the opening team became a supervisor who contributes to the success of One Dalton, one delivery at a time.
