Four Seasons Resort Seychelles celebrates the recent 10-year partnership anniversary with WiseOceans, a global milestone marking a decade of passionate marine conservation, education, and community engagement.

Since the founding of the partnership in 2015, WiseOceans has remained dedicated to spreading awareness and protecting the oceans through science, storytelling, and hands-on experiences. At Petite Anse, their presence has become an integral part of the resort’s sustainability journey, connecting guests of all ages to the wonders of the underwater world.

In March 2015, WiseOceans launched its first coral reef restoration project in the bay, with the goal of restoring 10,000 square metres of degraded limestone reef. The project was designed not only to revive marine habitats, but to inspire a sense of stewardship among both local communities and international guests.

Over the last decade, this mission has seen incredible progress:

  • 5,902 corals have been grown on in-water nurseries
  • 6,009 guests have been guided to discover these nurseries through educational snorkelling sessions
  • 4 table nurseries have been installed within Petite Anse
  • 578 coral workshops have been delivered to guests, school groups, and community members
  • 144 individual coral sponsorships have been received through the Sponsor the Reef program
  • Several impactful training initiatives have been launched, including the Marine Scholarship program

Through activities such as these and the continued success of the Sponsor the Reef program, where guests contribute directly to reef restoration, WiseOceans continues to inspire meaningful action and deeper appreciation for the marine environment. Their work is a powerful example of how education can lead to lasting impact, not only within Seychelles, but across the globe.

Pip Penny, Marine Conservationist at WiseOceans Seychelles, shares, “Reaching the 10-year mark is such a proud moment for all of us. Every day, we witness the ripple effect of knowledge, when someone sees a reef for the first time or chooses to sponsor coral, it’s a spark that can grow into lifelong advocacy. It’s an honour to be part of that journey.”

As this milestone is marked, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles continues to work side by side with WiseOceans in the shared mission of making the world, and its oceans, a better place.
