An advocate of mother nature, Shereen Aslina’s childhood led her to practice wellness and share this with the people she encounters daily. Growing up in the mountains, Shereen spent her early days exploring and swimming in the river next to her house. “Nature is my world. As a child, I was happiest getting lost in the joy of exploring the outdoors each day, playing with animals and observing the trees.” While other children were at home, Shereen would be collecting fireflies to keep in her mother’s crystal glasses so she could keep them company.

As she grew older, her love for nature grew alongside a newly founded interest in nursing. “My family consists only of medical professionals. I love helping people and so nursing school felt like the right fit for me, until illness dictated that I wouldn’t be able to finish my studies.” Not too long after, a good friend recommended Shereen try yoga to improve her health and that is when she began her well-being journey. Her first ever yoga experience left Shereen curious and convinced her to enroll on a yoga course to learn more.

What stemmed from the desire to improve her health, soon brought out a version of herself Shereen did not know existed. “Yoga is confidence, connection, power and transformation – a personal journey through mind, body and soul.”

Shereen’s studies in yoga took her to Kuala Lumpur, where part of the course requirement was to complete 300 hours of charitable work that involved practicing yoga with people in government housing, which is where Shereen first saw how yoga contributed to togetherness as a community. “Yoga is personalized to each individual's needs, whether medical or not, and this is where the strength of the practice lies. I may not be a nurse but it brings me joy to be able to help people through the world of wellness and to see yoga contribute to a collective mindfulness in a community.”

After completing her yoga training, Shereen first began working in a number of gyms and fitness centres, before she had the opportunity to join Four Seasons Resort Langkawi as a Yogi. This opportunity allowed her to implement classes such as evening rituals, yoga workshops and more. As she continued to receive recognition from guests, Shereen took her career international by attending yoga courses in India.

Her international exposure led Shereen to working as a freelancer and traveling the world before she set her eyes on the paradise islands of Seychelles where she is now a Yogi at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles. “Four Seasons culture and the natural beauty of Seychelles made me feel right at home. When you set eyes on the endless lush greenery and sparkling azure blues, there is nothing more captivating.” Inspired by nature and its four elements – water, air, earth and fire – the Resort’s Le Syel Spa soon saw Shereen implementing the Four Elements Wellness Program and guide for guests to experience during their stay.

On her days off, Shereen gets lost in nature as she discovers new waterfalls and hikes some of the well-known mountains in Seychelles. “I consider myself lucky to be surrounded by such beauty that keeps me inspired constantly to implement new experiences in our wellness offerings. I still have to pinch myself every morning as I wake up to the view of the Indian Ocean.”
