Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island Introduces Gou Zil Koko, a Relaxed Beachside Dining Spot with Island Flavours
Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island welcomes guests to Gou Zil Koko, a relaxed beachfront lunch concept that brings the flavours and spirit of island life to the table. Named after the Creole phrase for “taste of the coconut island,” the concept is rooted in simplicity, fresh ingredients, and an easy-going approach to dining by the sea.
Just a short cycle from the resort, Gou Zil Koko is set along the coastline near Madame Zabre, where white sands, swaying palms, and turquoise waters form a natural backdrop. Gou Zil Koko is a food truck, wrapped in an underwater-inspired design featuring illustrations of George, the island’s oldest resident, a much-loved giant Aldabra tortoise. With its open-air setting and casual, picnic-style seating, Gou Zil Koko offers a relaxed space to enjoy the surroundings at an unhurried pace.
“Gou Zil Koko is about capturing the essence of island living, relaxed, vibrant, and full of flavour,” says Budi Widodo, General Manager. “We wanted to create a space where guests can enjoy high-quality, freshly prepared food in an informal setting right by the beach.”
The menu brings together global influences and local ingredients, featuring dishes such as a Brisket Burger, Tuna Poke Bowl, and Som Tum Thai, alongside Cajun-spiced Pulled Chicken, Grilled Shrimp with Lemon, and fresh island salads. Each dish is designed to be flavourful, approachable, and well-suited to the coastal setting.
“Our focus is on freshness and balance,” adds Executive Sous Chef Venugopal Unnikrishnan. “It’s about using quality ingredients and letting the flavours speak for themselves.”
Adjacent to the food truck, the Koko Bar, a thatched-roof hut, serves a selection of refreshing drinks, from tropical classics such as Piña Coladas and fresh coconuts to lighter options including an Aperol Spritz. With bartenders in relaxed aloha-style shirts and uninterrupted ocean views, it is an inviting place to pause and take in the setting.
Beyond dining, Gou Zil Koko is designed to invite lingering moments. Cabanas and shaded lounging areas offer space to relax, while beach chairs line the shore. For a more active option, kayaks, paddleboards and table tennis provide a playful way to experience the setting.
Whether for a leisurely lunch, a light bite between activities or drinks by the water, Gou Zil Koko offers a relaxed and flavour-driven experience that reflects the charm of island life. The venue is open for lunch Monday to Thursday and Saturday to Sunday, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm.
