A Cultural Heritage: Four Seasons Hotel Tianjin Partners with Kite Wei to Launch “Kite Whispering in Spring” Afternoon Tea

March 25, 2025,
Tianjin, China

As grass flourishes, birds sing, and blossoms fill the city, the gentle spring breeze guides colourful kites soaring through clear skies. Embracing this vibrant spirit of renewal, Four Seasons Hotel Tianjin proudly partners with the nationally recognized intangible cultural heritage brand Kite Wei to present the Kite Whispering in Spring Afternoon Tea. Blending cultural tradition with culinary innovation, this delightful experience invites guests on a flavourful journey celebrating spring.

Renowned worldwide for its superb craftsmanship and unique artistic flair, Tianjin’s Kite Wei boasts kite creations collected by prestigious museums at home and abroad. In this special collaboration, Wendy Wang, the hotel's Executive Pastry Chef, creatively integrates the artistic essence and vivid colours of traditional Chinese kites into Western pastries - transforming cherished cultural pieces from mere museum exhibits into edible masterpieces.

Swallows Returning at Spring Dawn

The Vanilla Chantilly with Colourful Sponge captures the gentle charm of spring mornings and the carefree joy of kite-flying. Inspired by the vibrant kite-colouring technique, each bite of this airy, rainbow-hued cake delivers the fresh essence of the season itself.

Fish Leaping in Spring Pool

The Mango Pomelo Mousse beautifully blends the luscious sweetness of mango with the subtle tartness of grapefruit, complemented by aromatic coconut milk. Fashioned after graceful goldfish kites, this treat playfully brings to life the imagery of fish dancing in spring waters.

Bamboo Breeze in Spring Melody

The Longjing Tea Soybean Milk Delight elegantly merges the refined qualities of Longjing tea with the subtle, silky richness of soybean milk mousse. Inspired by bamboo’s tranquil elegance, its gentle green hue and delicate tea aroma harmonize in a soothing melody of oriental flavours.

Beyond these delightful desserts, the afternoon tea set also offers a delicious selection of savoury treats, including crab salad with caviar, quinoa asparagus with hummus, and a variety of fine teas, ensuring a truly memorable dining experience.

To enrich the cultural journey, the hotel has invited Wei Guoqiu, fourth-generation inheritor of Kite Wei, to personally conduct kite-making workshops on-site every Saturday from 2:00 pm. Guests can immerse themselves in traditional Chinese craftsmanship, crafting and painting their own kites while appreciating the charm of intangible heritage firsthand.

The Kite Whispering in Spring Afternoon Tea will be available at La Sala Lobby Lounge from March 31 to June 30, 2025. Come experience the beauty of the seasons while indulging in cultural elegance.
