d|azur Reopens at Four Seasons Hotel Toronto with a Celebration of Canadian Women in Art

June 15, 2023,
Toronto, Canada

With summer in the city underway, Four Seasons Hotel Toronto has once again reopened its seasonal outdoor patio, d|azur. Paying homage to the French Riviera and the Mediterranean coastline, d|azur is setting the stage for the warm weather with a fresh and flavourful menu and, of course, the patio’s annual mural installation. Promising a relaxed al fresco dining experience, guests can indulge in coastal-inspired cuisine while admiring the works of this year’s muralist, Victoria Sequeira.

Designed to transport guests to the Côte d'Azur, the d|azur mural continues to play a crucial role in the patio’s identity. Sitting above Bay Street and Yorkville Avenue, Victoria’s piece serves as a testament to the captivating and vibrant spirit of the South of France.

“I took inspiration from the idyllic romance, charming colours and sun-drenched vignettes that characterize this cherished corner of the world,” says Victoria Sequeira. “I wanted to spark a visual journey for guests - one full of warmth, tranquillity and a touch of Mediterranean magic. I hope to bring guests to a place where flowers sway gently in the breeze, and sunlight dances upon the azure coastline. Working with the team at Four Seasons has been a dream - this project allowed me to play with an entirely new colour palette and a concept vastly different from previous work I’ve done.”

Victoria is a self-taught artist based between Toronto and the Waterloo Region working primarily with acrylic medium. Through her work, Victoria conveys a sense of transcendence and harmony and continues to push the boundaries by constantly exploring innovative ways to express the intricacies of humankind.

“The two figures, representing time well spent in the Mediterranean, pay tribute to d|azur as Yorkville’s preferred destination to gather and entertain,” says Patrick Pollak, General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Toronto. “Between the bold beauty of the mural and the adventurous flavours of Chef Maru Cacho’s menu, guests will feel immersed in the allure and romance of the French Riviera.”

Complimenting the paradisal atmosphere of the patio, Chef Maru and the culinary team have curated a rich menu full of fresh, seasonal and delicious dishes for friends and loved ones to enjoy over inspired conversation. Guests can look forward to menu highlights including Navajas al Limón, Arabic Lamb Flatbread, Lemon Saffron Spaghettoni, Lobster Rolls and more.

To mark the official reopening of d|azur and the unveiling of this year’s mural installation, Four Seasons Hotel Toronto will partner with The Kit in honour of their Women in Art feature. In addition to Victoria’s larger-than-life composition, attendees can admire the works of three additional artists - Amanda McCavour, Krista Kim and Tamara “Solem” Al-Issa. These three talented women will have their work on display through d|bar by Chef Daniel Boulud for two weeks following the launch event on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

d|azur is open Sunday through Wednesday from 11:00 am to 10:30 pm and Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm (walk-ins only, weather permitting).
