Four Seasons Hotel Tunis announces the appointment of Shady Abdelaziz as Director of Sales and Marketing. Arriving along the coast of North Africa following 16 years in Qatar, Abdelaziz quickly fell into a groove shaping and promoting the luxury experience Four Seasons offers in the leafy Gammarth section of the capital of Tunisia, the better to ensure that guests and visitors enjoy a true connection to the destination and a perfect balance of hospitality and efficiency tailormade to meet their needs.

“It is great to be with Four Seasons in Tunis, which has a real heritage and history of hospitality,” says Abdelaziz. “The happiness and vibes of the neighbourhood go a long way in terms of guests getting the most from their stay with us.”

Born in historic Aswan along the Nile in southern Egypt and raised in Cairo, Abdelaziz took an interest in hospitality and earned a Bachelor’s degree in hotel management from the University of Alexandria. He got his start on the operations side of international hotel properties on the Sinai Peninsula and mainland Egypt, and then shifted gears to catering sales, excited by opportunities to deal with numbers, think strategically, and be proactive with the customer experience.

Abdelaziz went on to join Four Seasons Hotel Doha as Catering Sales Executive in 2007 and rose to Director of Sales and Marketing over 13 years with the property. After a two-year break to work with another hotel group in Doha, he is now excited to be carrying the Four Seasons flag again in Tunis, where he leads a local team in oversight of sales, public relations, marketing, reservations and revenue.

The combination of responsibilities keeps him on his toes, he says, noting that his work evolves every day becomes more and more rewarding. “It’s really a mix of art and science: The art of differentiating the Four Seasons brand by creating offerings that stand out for clients, and the science of measuring efficiency through the desired return on investment.”

A professed “Padel addict” who counts himself fortunate to have found the racquet sport offered at a tennis club adjacent to the Hotel, Abdelaziz is thrilled at the opportunity his new position presents to experience a new culture with his family. “Gatherings and events are very valued here in Tunis. It didn’t take long for my wife and me to feel at home.”
