Following their immense popularity during their debut in 2021, Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River announces the much-anticipated return of the authentic Maritozzi pastries at Cafe Madeleine. Responding to the fervent requests of their loyal fans, the Hotel is bringing back Maritozzi for a limited time from August 4 to 13, 2023.

Since their introduction in 2021, Maritozzi quickly became a sensation, capturing the hearts and taste buds of Bangkok residents. The outpouring of support and requests from enthusiastic fans for their return prompted Four Seasons to revive these beloved treats.

"Maritozzi became an instant hit when we introduced them during COVID in summer 2021, and we were overwhelmed by the tremendous demand from our guests," shares Lubosh Barta, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River. "We listened to the passionate voices of our fans and decided to bring back Maritozzi to offer them another chance to experience the delight of these iconic pastries."

Originating during the Roman Empire, Maritozzi are traditional sweet buns filled with cream, renowned for their popularity in Rome. Embodying not just culinary excellence but also a symbol of love, these succulent desserts hold a special place in the hearts of Italians. Often presented by husbands (marito) to their wives, Maritozzi symbolize a daily reminder of profound affection.

Inspired by his own fondness for Maritozzi, Executive Chef Andrea Accordi, an Italian native, was determined to share this culinary treasure with the people of Bangkok. In collaboration with Executive Pastry Chef Andrea Bonaffini, also hailing from Italy, Accordi created an elevated version of the classic Maritozzi to satisfy the cravings of their dedicated fans.

"Maritozzi hold a special place in my heart, and I wanted to bring an authentic taste of Italy to our guests in Bangkok," expresses Accordi. "When Chef Bonaffini joined our team, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to collaborate and create an elevated rendition of Maritozzi that we could offer to our valued guests."

Together, the two skilled chefs embarked on a journey of culinary exploration, tirelessly experimenting until they achieved perfection. "An exceptional Maritozzo demands a delicate brioche bun filled with luscious sweet cream," explains Bonaffini. "Our Maritozzi feature a wonderfully light and airy bun, complemented by a choice of exquisite Tahitian vanilla, the finest Thai dark chocolate, or new this year a modern interpretation with pistachio-raspberry cream. Each bite will transport you to the vibrant streets of Rome."

Accordi couldn't contain his excitement upon tasting the first batch of Maritozzi in 2021, affirming, "With that first bite, I was instantly transported back to Italy. Finally, we can offer an authentic Maritozzo experience here in Asia."

Guests can savour the delightful Maritozzi at Cafe Madeleine in Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, available for both takeaway and dine-in options. Each Maritozzo is priced at THB 180, and packs of 3 Maritozzi are also available at THB 500. The classic flavours of Tahitian vanilla cream and dark chocolate cream are offered, along with an exciting new pistachio-raspberry flavour.
