Gaze, Savour, Sparkle: Sky-High Indulgence at the Rooftop Stars Bar
Perched 30 floors above the heart of the Hangzhou and overlooking the Grand Canal, the rooftop Stars Bar at Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at Hangzhou Centre made its dazzling debut on June 13, 2025. Drawing inspiration from the cosmos, Stars Bar offers an immersive space where masterful mixology transforms the essence of the stars into an anthology of artisanal cocktails. Guests are invited to enjoy breathtaking 270-degree views of the Grand Canal, the city skyline, and the distant West Lake landscape, accompanied by the enchanting live jazz for a captivating symphony of sight, taste, and sound.
The talented Bar Manager William Zhu has curated an original cocktail menu exclusively for Stars, weaving together astrological themes, local flavours, and creative bespoke compositions. The menu is presented in three distinct chapters: Diviner, Star Gazer and Astrologer, each designed to inject unparalleled personality and imagination into the drinking experience. "We are not just mixing spirits; we are blending inspiration, character, and the mystery of the stars," says William. "We welcome every star chaser to raise a glass here, to explore resonances of taste and emotion within their own celestial trajectory."
Diviner
This chapter draws inspiration from world-renowned stargazing destinations, paying homage to nature and local terroir. For example, Prince’s Peak inspired by Hangzhou's same-named stargazing destination, blends the local Longjing tea with gin for a taste of Eastern serenity, while Canary Islands from Spain's same-named stargazing destination, incorporates passion fruit and mint for a touch of passionate Southern European flair.
Star Gazer
Reimagining timeless classic cocktails with Stars Bar’s unique personality and William's innovative twists, this chapter reconstructs memories of time. The Polaris Martini introduces white pomelo peel into the traditional recipe, offering layers as cool and alluring as the Northern Lights. The Sagarita is a modern take on the Margarita, pairing tequila with green jalapeño and yuzu salt to interpret a spirit of adventure and freedom.
Astrologer
Here, zodiac signs are not just celestial symbols but guides for the palate. Bartenders will engage in one-on-one conversations with guests to craft personalized drinks based on astrological insights. Burn Me Down, designed for fire signs, ignites passion with a surprising clash of rum, chili, and tonic water. The Right of Silence tailored for earth signs, awakens a steady essence with notes of genmaicha tea, coffee, and Palo Santo.
Space Design
Designed by internationally renowned Ko Kai, Stars Bar’s space draws thematic inspiration from the stars and cosmos. It blends the deep blue of the night sky, the silver sheen of starlight, the soft glow of moonlight, and the warm gold of ancient astronomical instruments. This visual feast transports guests from the bustling world below into an ethereal escape.
The interior features 42 seats, with an additional 64 on the outdoor terrace. A private room evokes the feeling of being invited into an astronomer's personal study. Flowing silver accents contrast with warm wood flooring and leather seating, cultivating an atmosphere of refined comfort. Projected star charts on the floor create an ever-changing, celestial landscape, seamlessly marrying the wonder of the cosmos with the luxurious ease of rooftop leisure. Each creation represents the unique soul of a sign.
