Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, the first and only AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star Resort on Hawaii Island, introduces a robust line-up of family-focused programming and packages for 2024, in advance of Spring Break and summer travel. Recognized for its world-class experiences for guests of all ages, the award-winning Resort offers diverse educational and interactive activities for families year-round.

Adventure Awaits at Camp Manitou

A partnership with one of the nation’s foremost summer camps, founded in Maine in 1947, Camp Manitou returns for its eighth year March 11 - April 6 and July 1 - August 30, 2024. Designed for children ages 9 through 17, the offerings focus on immersive group experiences through cultural, recreational and explorative activities both at the Resort and throughout the Island of Hawaii, with single and multi-day programming. Memorable off-site activities include visiting secret beaches, exploring lava tubes and waterfalls, kayaking and snorkelling at Kealakekua Bay, and stargazing at Mauna Kea. Camp Manitou at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai also offers Family Day Adventures, a full day experience created for those seeking to spend quality time together. Each Family Day Adventure is private and fully customized to the guest, with a unique itinerary for exploring the best of the island. This offering is available to both families and adults seeking connection and adventure.

Authentic Connection to Hawaiian Culture

The Resort’s Kaupulehu Cultural Center offers an opportunity to deepen guests’ experience and share Hawaiian culture through a series of programming designed to be fun, immersive and educational for the entire family. Guests may come in and ask questions or participate in one of the many age-appropriate classes offered, including lei making, feather art, ‘ukulele lessons, Hawaiian language classes, lauhala weaving, hula lessons and “talk story” on the history of Hawaii. All programs at the Kaupulehu Cultural Center are complimentary.

The Kumu Kai Marine Center at King’s Pond – the Resort’s 1.8-million-gallon swimmable aquarium – is the latest in the evolution of the marine biology program at Hualalai. Kumu Kai features a touch tank and digital education displays where guests can learn about the 1,000+ tropical fish living in King’s Pond and the delicate ecosystem of the ponds throughout the Resort. The Resort’s team of on-site marine biologists offer an array of interactive ocean preservation and marine educational programming for adults and children alike, including a Behind-the-Scenes Tour, Private Eagle Ray Feeding, Snorkel Safari, Tide Pool Tour, Jr. Marine Biologist Experience, Turtles and Tales, Ocean Life Exploration and more.

For those seeking outdoor pursuits, the Alakai Nalu, or “Leaders of the Waves,” are Hualalai’s ocean ambassadors. These expert watermen and women provide a water-sports experience that shares their love and knowledge of the ocean and marine life that surrounds the Resort. Family favourites include guided Hawaiian outrigger canoe tours, private rib craft adventures, stand-up paddle boarding and scooter snorkelling. As the newest addition, the Resort’s 46 foot (14 metre) catamaran, aptly named Alakai Nui (great leader), offers guests the opportunity to create their own bespoke ocean adventures, exploring the pristine waters and abundant marine life off the coast of Hualalai. The new boat boasts an extended range, enabling guests to venture miles from the Resort and enjoy exciting activities such as deep-sea fishing, whale watching (when in season) and exploration of additional snorkelling locations and beaches, offering fully personalized two-, three-, and four+-hour excursions.

Culinary Experiences Celebrating Hawaiian and Polynesian History and Traditions

The Resort’s culinary team, led by Executive Chef Richard Polhemus, offers a multitude of dining options and uniquely Hawaiian culinary experiences fit for the whole family, with menus that reflect the bounty of Hawaii’s farms and coasts. Throughout the Spring Break and summer seasons, guests can enjoy a Polynesian Luau and Show featuring authentic Hawaiian fare, refreshing tropical cocktails, hula, and musical performances at the Hoku Amphitheater. On March 23, 2024, Chef Polhemus will lead a Big Island Farm Tour Dinner featuring Kahua Ranch, taking guests on a culinary journey through the island’s farms and purveyors.

The Resort recently unveiled Miller & Lux at Hualalai, a Hawaiian iteration of the awarded Chef Tyler Florence’s San Francisco-based steakhouse. Guests will find prime cuts of beef, tableside presentations, craft cocktails, and a curated wine list overlooking the 18th green of Hualalai Golf Course with treetop sunset views.
