Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui Celebrated Earth Day 2025 Through Immersive and Thought-Provoking Experiences
Sustainability and conscious environmental practices have been the cornerstone of Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui since its inception nearly two decades ago. This well-preserved hillside orchard with 850-plus coconut trees and a thriving tropical landscape stands testament to the commitment that the resort has made in sustaining nature’s beauty in its true form. “This Earth Day, we renewed our promise to take care of the land and the people we operate in,” smiles Jasjit Assi, the resort’s proud General Manager. A series of immersive, thoughtful, and values-led initiatives that reflected both the Planet Pillar of the Four Seasons for Good program and the brand’s commitment to care, kindness, and empathy were brought to life on this occasion.
Wrapped in Nature: Thai Flavours in Sustainable Bites
As part of the breakfast experience, the resort highlighted the natural harmony between Thai culinary tradition and sustainability. The two featured bites - Miang Kham and Pomelo Salad - are not only flavourful and culturally significant, but also embody the resort’s commitment to mindful sourcing, local ingredients, and zero-waste presentation. “These dishes serve as an opportunity to communicate how our food philosophy aligns with Earth Day values - honouring the planet’s ability to nourish, heal, and sustain,” shares Nicholas Gonthier, Director of Restaurants and Bar. Often described as “the universe in one bite,” Miang Kham is wrapped in bai cha plu - a wild pepper leaf grown on property - and brings together the five elemental tastes of nature: sweet, sour, salty, spicy, and bitter. “The edible leaf itself is not just a vessel, but a source of antioxidants and healing properties, reminding us that nature wastes nothing when we live in balance with it,” he adds. The Pomelo Salad (Yam Som-O) - also served in wild pepper leaves - is paired with aromatic herbs, crunchy peanuts, and toasted coconut to cool, energise, and nourish. “By serving it in an edible leaf, we eliminate the need for disposable containers - embracing a zero-waste, full-flavour philosophy,” he smiles.
Connecting Through Nature and Craft
As part of the Earth Day program, guests were invited to create a lasting impression of their visit by adding to the vibrant landscape. “Planting trees is a simple, hands-on way to connect with nature and contribute to the environment,” shares Thada Whasagool, the resort’s Sustainability Manager.
The resort’s younger guests enjoyed a creative and eco-friendly activity where they crafted keychains using upcycled fisher nets. “It’s a fun, hands-on way to teach children about recycling and the importance of reusing materials,” says Thada. While turning marine waste into something meaningful and memorable, children were also taught about the diverse underwater ecosystem as well as the resort’s thriving Coral Conservation Project.
From the Team to the Community
The resort’s staff were also involved in engaging activities where they visited Pracharat Market in Nathon to distribute Four Seasons for Good non-chemical fertilisers in partnership with local vendors. This initiative supported both environmental education and local agriculture.
Guests were invited to contribute optional donations, which helped fund the purchase of new school uniforms for local students. “These initiatives reflect our resort’s deep-rooted commitment to community impact and circular giving as we are proud to support our neighbours not only with tools to grow, but also with joyful moments that matter,” smiles Jasjit.
