With an accomplished career spanning Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States, Alexandre Renoue brings together craft, local inspiration and a sense of play to create exceptional beverage experiences.
For Alex, the best cocktails begin with curiosity. It is the instinct that has guided his journey from the Mediterranean island of Corsica to some of the world’s most celebrated bars, shaping not only the way he approaches mixology but also the way he experiences each destination – through neighbourhood markets, small bars, family-run restaurants and the people behind them.
His philosophy finds a natural home in Bar Trigona, where he channels his passion for local character to build on a legacy of thoughtful craftsmanship and deep connection to Malaysian ingredients and heritage.
Growing up in Corsica, hospitality was woven into everyday life for Alex – from his grandfather’s love for rare French spirits to his mother’s winery business. Yet a career in hospitality was never part of the plan. In fact, he was studying chemical engineering when he began taking shifts behind the bar to earn some extra income. An unexpected victory at a regional bartending competition revealed an entirely different future. Here was a profession that combined creativity, technical precision and human connection – Alex had found his calling.
Inspired by France’s influential Experimental Cocktail Club movement and later mentored by renowned bartender Jimmy Barrat, he refined his craft at Zuma Dubai – “an education in discipline and consistency” that still holds him in good stead.
Joining a luxury hotel group in 2019, he took on new challenges in Asia, from supporting a hotel preopening in Sri Lanka to elevating a Filipino bar to international acclaim. His journey with Four Seasons began in Mumbai before continuing to Nashville, where he helmed the beverage program across multiple venues, curating an immersive guest journey that brought the rhythm of Music City to life.
Along the way, Alex realised that while every destination celebrates cocktails in its own way, one principle remains universal: at the end of the day, people want to have fun. Despite his personal enthusiasm for cutting-edge mixology, he believes guests should never feel the complexity behind the glass.
“The experience should be effortless,” he explains. “Our work happens behind the scenes so guests can simply relax, discover something new and enjoy the moment.”
As a leader, Alex values mentorship and finds great joy in guiding young bartenders to grow in confidence and eventually carve their own niche in the industry. Long after service has ended, he can be found alongside the team exchanging ideas, refining flavours or experimenting with new techniques – moments of collaboration where tomorrow’s creations begin to take shape.
Away from work, Alex recharges through a balance of movement, exploration and quiet solitude. Along with active pursuits like surfing, wakeboarding and fitness training, he enjoys discovering bars with a strong sense of local identity. At home, he likes to unwind with a carefully chosen vinyl record and bartending book – feeding the same curiosity that has inspired his path from the very beginning.
