Art Comes to Life This Easter at Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon

The Hotel's legendary collection of Portuguese modern art takes centre stage in an Easter celebration combining chocolate, culture, and craftsmanship
March 24, 2026,
Lisbon, Portugal

This Easter, Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon invites guests to discover a celebration where art and indulgence intertwine. Inspired by the Hotel's extraordinary collection of mid-twentieth century Portuguese art — one of the largest privately owned collections of its kind in the country — every detail of this year's Easter experience pays homage to the artists, artisans, and visionaries who shaped the Hotel's identity when it first opened its doors in 1959.

From a special limited-edition Easter Egg inspired by architectural details and iconic artworks found throughout the property, to an Easter Egg Hunt Basket featuring chocolates designed after three masterpieces in the collection, guests are invited to see the Hotel through new eyes as a veritable museum of Portuguese contemporary art.

“Easter at our hotel has always been a moment to create memories that last well beyond the season,” says Guilherme Costa, General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon. “This year, we wanted to go further, inviting our guests not just to celebrate, but to truly see the Hotel, its history, and the extraordinary artists whose work lives within these walls.”

Easter Lunch in the Ballroom

On Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, the Hotel’s grand ballroom, the Salão Nobre Pedro Leitão, whose entrance stairwell is adorned with some of the most celebrated pieces in the art collection – becomes the setting for the traditional Easter Buffet Lunch. Families will gather from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm for a feast that is as visually spectacular as it is delicious, with live stations offering fresh seafood and charcuterie, an authentic Cabrito Serrano (roast kid goat) carving station, and an exclusive selection of artisanal cheeses from Portugal's finest regions, including Arrábida, Beiras, and Alentejo. Hotel’s Limited-Edition Easter Egg

The centrepiece of this year's Easter offering is the Hotel's limited-edition Easter Egg — a creation that is as much an objet d'art as it is a confection. Crafted using Dulcey chocolate by Valrhona and filled with almonds and chocolates, its form draws inspiration from the grand staircase leading to the Salão Nobre Pedro Leitão, while its palette of gold on blue pays direct homage to two iconic works in the Hotel's art collection. The warm golden tones echo the sumptuous, lacquered wood panel Bambús, made by Pedro Leitão and Arnaldo Louro de Almeida with mother-of-pearl inlays, which graces the ballroom entrance. The deep blues recall the tile column by Querubim Lapa, created at the renowned Viúva Lamego ceramic factory, which stands at the foot of the same stairwell, bringing the tradition of Portuguese azulejo into the Hotel's art collection. Gold on blue: a dialogue between two masterpieces, reimagined in chocolate.

The price per Easter Egg filled with almonds, rochers and truffles is EUR 65 and is available to takeaway from the Ritz Delicatessen Pop-Up Boutique.

Executive Pastry Chef Diogo Lopes reveals: “When we started thinking about this year's Easter Egg, we kept coming back to the same idea: the most beautiful things in this Hotel are on the walls, in the corridors, on the staircase, all around our property. So, we asked ourselves, what if the egg itself became a piece of that art collection too?”

Easter Pop-Up and Takeaway

Returning just outside Varanda Restaurant, the Ritz Delicatessen Pop-Up Boutique will run from March 22 to April 6, 2026, showcasing an exquisite Easter collection for those wishing to take a little piece of the Hotel's magic home.

"Every piece in this year's Easter takeaway offering tells a story that already exists inside the Hotel. The idea that someone could hold in their hands a chocolate egg inspired by a tapestry by Sarah Afonso or by Querubim Lapa’s tile and perhaps look up and find it in the Hotel, is everything I could hope for from this Easter," says Executive Pastry Chef Diogo Lopes.

This year's pastry highlights include:

  • Easter Egg (EUR 65) — Chocolate egg filled with almonds, rochers, and truffles.
  • Egg Hunt Basket (EUR 55) — A box of six colourful hand-crafted Valrhona chocolate eggs, each filled with chocolate-coated almonds and inspired by three masterworks from the Hotel's art collection: the tapestry “As Quatro Estações do Ano” (The Four Seasons) by Sarah Afonso, on the Mezzanine floor; the golden “Bambús” panel by Pedro Leitão and Arnaldo Louro de Almeida on the Salão Nobre staircase; and the exclusive tile pattern 'Ritz' designed by Hansi Stael specifically for the Hotel and produced at the Fábrica de Sant'Anna.
  • Traditional Easter Folar Cake (EUR 40) — Portuguese folar cake with fennel, egg strands and decorated with almonds.
  • Chocolate Easter Folar Cake (EUR 49) — Braided cake with chocolate chips, tonka bean and praline.
  • Guinea Fowl and Foie Gras Pie (EUR 62) — With wild mushrooms and pistachio, each serves six people. Orders are recommended to be made 48 hours in advance.

Egg Noir Cocktail

At the Hotel's Bar and Almada Negreiros Lounge — named after and adorned with the works of José de Almada Negreiros, one of the defining figures of Portuguese Modernism — guests can raise a glass to Easter with the Egg Noir cocktail.

A sophisticated blend of aged brandy, coffee, Moscatel, chocolate, and hazelnut, the Egg Noir cocktail is served in a chocolate-rimmed glass and finished with a creamy hazelnut foam. Its notes of toasted hazelnut, dark chocolate, coffee, and dried fruit make it a fitting toast to both the season and the spirit of the Hotel. Priced at EUR 20.

The Chocolate Bliss Body Ritual at the Ritz Spa

The celebration extends to the Ritz Spa with the Chocolate Bliss Body Ritual treatment — a 50-minute immersive experience that begins with a full-body exfoliation using organic cane sugar, nourishing cocoa butter, and the irresistible warmth of chocolate fragrance. The ritual continues with a deeply hydrating body treatment, where a velvety moisturiser infused with chocolate melts into the skin, leaving it silky soft and enveloped in a delicate, lingering scent. The perfect Easter indulgence. EUR 175 per person.
