Pristine blues meet meticulous greens at not one, but two of the most scenic golf courses around the world, renowned for its volcanic scenery and tropical abundance. “Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita is proud to be associated with two championship courses within close proximity to the Resort,” beams Martin Dell, the Resort’s General Manager. “Our partnership with both Anahita Golf Club and Ile Aux Cerfs Golf Club is underscored by the effortless service and internationally claimed product at both the greens and the Resort.”
The Courses
Built to USGA standards and the first-of-its-kind in Mauritius, the Ernie Els–designed course at Anahita Golf Club makes the most of its tropical setting. Backed by lush mountains and fringed by the crystal-clear lagoon, its large fairways and six stunning oceanfront holes culminate in a final shot that is among the most spectacular in the world. A short boat ride away from the Resort, the course at Ile Aux Cerfs Golf Club has been designed by legendary golfer Bernhard Langer. “The course covers 38 hectares (94 acres) on the southern half of the Ile aux Cerfs island, with the holes snaking up and down the length of the island,” shares Terry Moutou. As the Resort’s Digital Concierge Manager, Terry is often asked about the USPs of the courses. “It’s difficult to choose!” he gushes. “At the courses, one can expect naturally undulating topography, volcanic rock outcrops, lakes and gullies, and a variety of tropical trees and plants.”
Some of his highlight moments are listed below:
Arrival Experience
How many golf courses can boast a private boat arrival? “We know of one!” smiles Terry. “Hop on the boat from our jetty next to Bambou restaurant for a 10-minute scenic boat ride to Ile aux Cerfs.” With stunning ocean views and the Resort draped against the Bambou Mountain peaks, this boat ride is both exciting and memorable.
18th Hole Ile Aux Cerfs
The signature 18th hole is a showstopper at Ile Aux Cerfs Golf Club. “Once you find the last fairway of the day, you must choose the final greens – will it be the clubhouse hero or the scenery tourist?” he teases. With a challenging approach, the multi-tiered green in front of the clubhouse is certainly not for the fainthearted, while the more scenic green is 90 degrees to the left. “Take one last look at the ocean as you aim for your final shot of the day!” he adds.
The Big Easy Anahita
With Erie Els' very modern approach to golf course design, Anahita Golf Club is fun for all levels of golfers. “It’s the perfect place to start your golfing adventure or play a game against friends for bragging rights,” he grins. The course is very forgiving from the tee and is amateur-friendly around the green. “But don't be fooled, not every pin position should be attacked!” he cautions.
Hospitality at Its Finest
Tying up this adventure is the quintessential hospitality that Four Seasons and the golf courses are best known for. “From the moment you arrive at any of the two courses, you will be greeted by the friendliest and most enthusiastic team,” he promises. “They can't wait to give you all their tips and tricks on the course and will make sure you have your camera ready on the signature holes!”
