Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley Celebrates a Trifecta of Culinary Excellence
Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley is proud to announce a season of remarkable culinary recognition for its signature restaurant, Auro. The fine-dining destination has received a rare trifecta of national accolades: a Michelin Star retained for the third consecutive year, a third Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence, and a James Beard Foundation Media Award for Executive Chef Rogelio Garcia’s debut cookbook, Convivir: Modern Mexican Cuisine in California’s Wine Country.
Michelin Guide 2025: Auro Retains Its Star
At the 2025 Michelin Guide California awards, Auro was honoured once again with one Michelin star. Inspectors praised Garcia’s “distinctly Californian perspective” and the kitchen’s ability to strike “a golden balance between modern tastes and old-school luxury.”
Garcia’s tasting menus mirror the rhythm of Napa Valley—blending refined technique with ingredients drawn from the resort’s on-site gardens and neighbouring farms. Dishes such as dry-aged shima aji with mountain rose apple and mandarinquat aguachile, or the tetela with foraged black trumpet and maitake mushrooms, echo the terroir just beyond Auro’s windows.
“This year was deeply personal,” says Garcia. “Convivir is a love letter to my roots—it’s about family, tradition, and where I come from. To have it recognised with a James Beard Award, and to hold our Michelin star and Wine Spectator Award again, tells me we’re doing something right by staying true to who we are. My team inspires me every day. Right now, I’m exploring fermentation, wild foraging, and continuing to elevate the dessert course as the final poetic chapter of each menu.”
Convivir: A James Beard Award for Storytelling Through Food
Garcia’s debut cookbook, Convivir, was honoured with the 2025 James Beard Foundation Media Award in the Restaurant and Professional category. A deeply personal blend of memoir and culinary exploration, the book traces Garcia’s journey from his childhood in Mexico City to the vineyards of Napa, celebrating the people, places, and plates that shaped him.
“Convivir” means more than simply living together—it evokes the spirit of gathering, of sharing meals and stories across generations. That same philosophy guides Chef Rogelio Garcia's approach at Auro, where each dish unfolds like a chapter: grounded in memory, elevated by technique, and served with the warmth of a family table. The seven-course Chef's tasting menu continues to evolve as a living expression of Garcia's voice —generous, intentional, and unafraid to push boundaries.
A Wine Program That Speaks in Pairings
Auro’s third Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence reflects the continued evolution of its 700-label cellar. Curated by Lead Sommelier Derek Stevenson, the wine list champions California’s most compelling small producers while inviting global conversation through classic and emerging regions alike.
“At Auro, I want every bottle to feel like a journey,” says Stevenson. “Whether it’s a legacy estate or a rising voice, I look for wines that speak -- and that complement the menu in a way that feels intentional, not intimidating. It’s about approachability, education, and emotion. Our wine dinners let guests experience terroir up close. That connection between the glass, the land, and the plate is what makes it meaningful. The best wine lists don’t show off. They show up -- for the guest.”
