In celebration of Mexico’s National Raicilla Day on November 30, Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort announces the development of a Filipino raicilla oven within its 48-acre (19 hectare) sanctuary, deepening guests' connection to the ancestral agave spirit. Set to debut in March 2025, the traditional raicilla oven represents a unique piece of Mexican distilling heritage, reflecting the influence of Filipino sailors who traversed the Pacific trade routes and brought their distinct production techniques to the region. The oven will complement Naviva's immersive Road to Raicilla program by offering a hands-on exploration of the art of coastal raicilla without leaving the Resort’s embrace, further reinforcing the Resort's position as a steward of Mexico's cultural legacy.

"By bringing the traditional raicilla-making process to Naviva, we're offering our guests an unprecedented opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Mexican spirits," says Eduardo Sampere, Resort Manager at Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort. "While other properties might offer tastings, we invite our guests to become part of raicilla's continuing story – to understand this spirit in its most authentic form, guided by the same traditional methods that have defined it for centuries.”

Naviva's Filipino raicilla oven embodies the Resort's dedication to immersing guests in Mexico's spirited heritage, constructed using traditional methods and materials that maintain authenticity while allowing guests to observe and participate in various stages of the distillation process. Once launched in March, this hands-on experience will be led by a master distiller from Cabo Corrientes, adding another layer to Naviva's immersive approach to sharing coastal raicilla's rich heritage with its guests. In an intimate setting, guests will witness centuries-old distillation techniques that tell the story of generations of Mexican families.

The journey continues through expertly curated tastings that showcase both coastal and mountain expressions of raicilla, including exclusive small-batch productions crafted solely for Naviva. For epicureans, Chef Sofía Mojica crafts tasting menus at Copal Kitchen that complement raicilla’s distinctive profiles. Guests will find themselves sharing moments with visiting master distillers, whose passion and expertise can transform each tasting into a masterclass.

These on-site experiences complement Naviva's Road to Raicilla excursions, which encompass two distinct journeys: De La Costa and De La Sierra. The coastal experience takes guests by boat along historic smugglers' routes to the remote Cabo Corrientes region, where they visit family-run tabernas and enjoy exclusive tastings in an uncommercialized setting. The mountain route transports guests to San Sebastián del Oeste, one of Mexico's treasured Pueblos Mágicos, for intimate tours with local producers. Both experiences are led by expert guides deeply connected to the region's raicilla heritage, offering guests exclusive access to this centuries-old tradition.
