On June 28, 2023, for the first time at San Domenico Palace, A Four Seasons Hotel, Sicilian cuisine meets its Greek influences, in a new journey through Mediterranean flavours co-created by Chefs Massimo Mantarro and Luca Piscazzi.

For the first time the two chefs, who each helm a Michelin-starred restaurant at their respective hotels – Principe Cerami at San Domenico Palace in Taormina, and Pelagos at Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel in Athens - will be collaborating on a menu that celebrates the link between Greece and Sicily

Guests will enjoy the one-of-a-kind dinner aptly titled “From Aegean to Ionian” at Principe Cerami restaurant. At this spectacular location, they embark on a gastronomic journey from Greece to Sicily while enjoying the unforgettable view of Taormina’s Ancient Theatre, a symbol of Sicily’s history steeped in Greco-Roman culture.

United by a deep respect for raw ingredients, the two Chefs share a common vision and distinctive personality, which will be expressed in the evening’s menu.

Sicilian culture comes alive in Chef Mantarro’s recipes who, while admiring “his” island and Ionian Sea, cultivates a deep respect for local traditions, products, seasonality and the diversity of Sicily.  The sophistication of Mantarro’s cuisine is complemented by his kind and generous temperament, and he has welcomed Chef Luca Piscazzi into his kitchen to explore the similarities and differences in their approach and connection to their respective homes.

Luca Piscazzi, Italian from Rome has travelled the world to fulfill his culinary calling.  His passion for cooking began at a young age when he helped his grandmother in the kitchen.   At the age of 19, after finishing his studies he began to collect his experience from Rome to London, Hong Kong and Beijing. In London, he worked as sous chef with French Chef Anne-Sophie Pic in her celebrated restaurant La Dame de Pic London – located at Four Seasons Hotel London in Ten Trinity Square – that earned 2 Michelin stars.

But it is in Greece, at Four Seasons Astir Palace in Athens, that the award-winning Chef now helms Pelagos Restaurant – which means “open sea” in Greek –  and he expresses his constant commitment in bringing out the rich flavours, the subtle fragrances and various textures of seasonal raw ingredients, ensuring that diners immediately recognize what’s in their dishes. Focused on innovative presentation, the Chef aims to underline the sustainable aspect of local and seasonal products of the land and, especially, of the sea – from where his dishes take inspiration.

Thus, from the Aegean that embraces Athens to the Ionian Sea surrounding Taormina, guests will have the opportunity to sail the seas in a sensorial journey, which arrives at Principe Cerami for one night only  on June 28, 2023.
