Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas welcomes its first guests today. The all-new ultra-luxury resort is situated in Baja’s undiscovered East Cape on two miles (3.2 kilometres) of pristine beachfront within the private beachfront community of Costa Palmas.

“Nestled on the exclusive beachfront of Costa Palmas, the arrival of our new Resort in Los Cabos showcases Four Seasons ability to make the impossible possible, delivering an innovative, contemporary product that is unmatched in the market,” says Christian Clerc, Four Seasons President, Global Operations of the company’s third location in Mexico. “Home to the first Four Seasons marina and renowned restaurant estiatorio Milos, the Resort evokes a sophisticated, modern elegance while embracing a deep connection to the local Mexican culture. It is quite simply the most stylish resort in Mexico.”

Just 45 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) and a world away from the Cabo crowds, the sleek and contemporary Resort features 141 guest rooms including 23 suites; five dining options including world-renowned estiatorio Milos; multiple retail experiences; a sports complex and fitness centre; six expansive pools; Oasis Spa and Wellness Centre; a teen centre and Kids for All Seasons program; multiple unique indoor/outdoor celebration spaces; and a collection of whole ownership Private Villas and Private Residences for sale.  Four Seasons Los Cabos is the first resort to open within the thousand-acre (400 hectare) exclusive resort community of Costa Palmas, which offers Four Seasons guests and residents a Robert Trent Jones II designed 18-hole golf course and 18-acres (7 hectares) of organic farm and orchards.

"We set out to create a resort community at Costa Palmas unlike any the world has ever seen.  From its inception, our dream for Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas has been to create an unparalleled resort experience that embodied a fresh and mindful approach to design on what we believe to be one of the world’s best-kept secrets, Baja’s East Cape,” says Jason Grosfeld, founder of Irongate, which owns the resort community including the new Four Seasons. "The result is a Resort not just for those with an affinity for luxury hospitality but also for those who appreciate great design and seek all types of adventure."

Elemental Luxury

With the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains to the south and west, and the Sea of Cortez to the north and east, the Resort’s low-lying architectural footprint from Brooklyn-based Guerin Glass Architects is structured to mimic a sun dial, allowing light to come in and change its shape throughout the day, blending geometry and texture to harness and frame the natural surroundings.

“Our goal was to sensitively occupy the agricultural zone between the mountains and the sea by creating unimposing structures that support a variety of vegetation, focus views, and amplify the connection between landscape, sea, and sky,” says Scott Glass, partner and cofounder of Guerin Glass Architects.

Spacious interiors weave outdoors with indoors, allowing Baja’s natural landscape to be the defining décor.  Elemental touches throughout such as travertine flooring, leathered marble and carved stone walls further connect the Resort to nature and notions of Mexican culture to create a sense of intimacy and solitude throughout the expansive property.

Four Seasons Private Retreats at Costa Palmas offer families and large parties a home away from home, touting fully equipped kitchens and indoor/outdoor dining areas for meaningful gatherings made effortless with the inclusion of a personal assistant and private chef for every residence.

Spirited Adventure

The East Cape is a region entrenched with a history of discovery and adventure, dating back to the 1940s when acclaimed author John Steinbeck explored the mysterious gulf that lived between Baja California and mainland Mexico for his prolific travel and science diary, The Log from the Sea of Cortez. By the 1950s, the region had become a hidden-in-plain-sight playground for California celebrities and Texas fishermen seeking the infinite landscape and limitless possibilities for untapped adventure.

Today, guests of Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos can choose their own adventures with the Resort’s Adventure Concierge, an on-site team of local experts who know all of the region’s most extraordinary secrets. From guided ATV tours through the desert foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, and hiking trips to nearby Sol de Mayo where fresh water cascades over granite boulders to a swimmable waterfall and hot springs, to snorkelling or diving the coastal reefs of Cabo Pulmo Marine Park – a UNESCO Marine Heritage site, to swimming encounters with the ocean’s largest fish, the mystical whale shark, and more, the Adventure Concierge curates unforgettable and exhilarating East Cape experiences, exclusively for Four Seasons guests.

“A spirit of adventure and discovery plays a significant role in this region’s history, and that same spirit is still palpable today,” says Borja Manchado, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas. “The Adventure Concierge is both a celebration of our heritage, and a commitment to provide our guests with unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experiences on Baja’s East Cape.”

With the calm, swimmable waters of the Sea of Cortez lapping the shores of the Resort, guests can also enjoy swimming, snorkelling and paddle boarding, or access the Resort’s semi-private marina for sailing and yacht excursions, sport fishing and whale watching.

The Costa Palmas Golf Club provides a scenic golf experience designed by one of the world’s renowned course architects, Robert Trent Jones II. The masterpiece carefully laid into mother nature’s gifts of coastline sea dunes and freshwater estuaries up against the Sea of Cortez and Sierra de la Laguna Mountain range backdrop the 18-hole links-style journey offering an awe-inspiring tour through the diverse Costa Palmas land. An amenity exclusive to Four Seasons Residence owners and Resort guests on a priority basis, this world-class course – in addition to a six-hole three par short course and one-acre practice green, professional instruction and very own caddy program – is also available to enjoy during their stay.

The remote respite by the sea lends itself to travellers looking to unplug, recharge and reconnect with themselves and their loved ones.  Two miles of powdery beach dotted with sun loungers and umbrellas offer guests a front row seat to the Sea of Cortez and the perfect setting for an early morning walk or sunset stroll.

Six idyllic pools decorate the resort grounds, two sprawling and oversized – one reserved for families, one for adults only - three smaller pools tucked into private enclaves, and a lap pool each include sun loungers and shaded cabanas, Four Seasons signature poolside services such as chairside food and refreshments, sunglasses cleaning, periodic hydrating spritzes and more.

Rooted in the healing energy of the desert, mountains and sea, Oasis Spa and Wellness Centre offers guests the ultimate mind, body, and spirit renewal. With ten stand-alone treatment rooms – including two suites with private outdoor terraces and plunge pools - the spa features exclusive treatments from natural luxury skincare brands Tata Harper and Odacité, and offers multiple wellness rituals that incorporate Pranayama, meditation, sound healing and yoga into treatments.

Baja’s Bounty

The Resort’s signature restaurant and lounge, world-famous Mediterranean dining empire estiatorio Milos from Chef Costas Spiliadis, is making its Latin American debut and features fresh seafood caught daily in the Sea of Cortez, in addition to its classic Greek menu and market-style seafood selection shipped daily from the Mediterranean. An extensive collection of local tequilas and mezcals complement the food and beverage program, as well as an impressive list of Greek, French and regional wines from Baja Mexico – the oldest wine-producing nation in the Americas.
