With more than 200 whiskies from around the world, Bayou & Bottle is undoubtedly one of the best bars in Houston, especially for bourbon lovers. Between the Certified Bourbon Stewards, curated flights, tastings, signature Dr. Pepper Old Fashioned, and collection of rare bottles, there's something for everyone from the curious to the seasoned aficionado. The beverage team at Four Seasons, wanting to create a truly one-of-a kind offering for guests of Bayou & Bottle, called on long-time partner Donnis Todd, head distiller at Garrison Brothers in Hye, Texas. Together, they decided to create an overproof single barrel bourbon whiskey, sure to showcase the bold and complex flavours of Texas. On the distillery floor, they conducted an extensive tasting from barrels that had aged between three and nine years each in making their selections for this special blend. They stayed on the bottling line, filtered everything out, and were thrilled with the resulting product - a stunning three-year-old oak cask strength bourbon, proofed at 130. The bourbon exhibits notes of Texas Sheet Cake - cinnamon, chocolate, and pecan - as well as dark cherry and creme brulee vibes. It boldly presents its strength on the palate before finishing with sweet oak. This limited single barrel release, available only at Bayou & Bottle at Four Seasons Hotel Houston, yielded a total of 54 bottles, and is priced at USD 30 per 1.5-ounce pour.
