Cherry Blossom Celebrations at MAISON MARUNOUCHI, the Parisian-Style Bistro at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi

March 3, 2023,
Tokyo, Japan

Inspired by Japan’s favourite blossoms, MAISON MARUNOUCHI at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi welcomes springtime with a selection of remarkable offerings, including an evocative Afternoon Tea and signature seasonal menus.

Come March, a floral wave sweeps across Tokyo, lighting up its streets, parks and gardens in glowing pinks and whites. An iconic symbol of Japanese culture, cherry blossoms (known as sakura) are nationally celebrated and appreciated for their transient beauty.

“What makes sakura even more special is that the flowering season lasts only for a few weeks,” says General Manager Charles Fisher. “This year, our team has curated exceptional dining experiences that reflect the true spirit of springtime in Japan.”

Bright and welcoming, the Parisian-style bistro is framed by iconic Tokyo views. Guests can soak up views of the impressive Marunouchi skyline and Shinkansen bullet trains gliding by as they discover locally inspired culinary delights.

Life of Sakura: Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea

Inspired by the incredible yet ephemeral life of cherry blossoms, this sublime Afternoon Tea promises to delight the palate, gaze and soul alike. Blooming in a spring palette of pink, white and green, six signature sweets trace the life of sakura – from the young buds upon trees, to the fragrant carpet of fallen petals at the end of flowering season.

Crafted by Pastry Chef Patrick Thibaud, each miniature masterpiece expresses the delicate beauty of cherry blossoms in edible form. Begin with Cherry Blossom Buds, featuring sakura leaf and vanilla infused crème atop a buttery strawberry tart, followed by Half Bloom, a sumptuous roll cake with sakura Chantilly cream and Griotte cherry jelly. Full Bloom offers a sensational composition of strawberry shortbread and choux with Griotte cherry and sakura crème, blooming with chocolate flowers and fresh strawberries.

Sakura Blossom Shower mirrors the soft fall of petals through white macaroons with Griotte cherry and sakura ganache, accented with Amarena cherry. Embodying a blend of Japanese and western pastry traditions, Cherry Blossom Carpet features a crisp biscuit base, layered with Matcha baked cheesecake, sakura bean paste jelly and sakura cream cheese mousse. Guests can also enjoy a classic English teatime delight with a sakura twist: Pink Scones with Amarena cherry confit.

The repertoire of sweets is complemented by Cherry Breeze, a refreshing beverage evoking the dance of sakura petals in the spring breeze. Sparkling with floral and fruity elements such as rose hip tea, sakura syrup and cherry puree, this bubbly blend is balanced with citrus and salt.
