Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, the five-star oceanfront oasis on Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit, announces the return of Catrinas Fest, a three-day culinary and cultural experience honouring Día de Muertos. Taking place October 31 through November 2, 2025, this year’s festivities highlight the creative talents of renowned guest chefs, alongside traditional rituals, family-friendly programming, and beachside gatherings that reflect the vibrant soul of Mexico. Inspired by the golden cempasúchil flower—long believed to guide the spirits of loved ones’ home—this year’s Catrinas Fest weaves the marigold’s rich textures and radiant hues throughout its décor, menus, and programming, honouring both the beauty of life and the remembrance at the heart of Día de Muertos.

“Catrinas Fest is one of our most cherished traditions: a beautiful intersection of heritage, flavour, artistry, and community,” shares John O’Sullivan, Regional Vice President and General Manager, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. “Each year, we evolve the experience with new voices and perspectives, while remaining grounded in the spirit of remembrance, connection, and joy.”

Epicurean Evenings and Celebrated Talent

This year’s culinary programme brings together acclaimed chefs from Four Seasons global family and beyond, offering an artful exploration of Mexico’s regional flavours through refined techniques, seasonal ingredients, and storytelling rooted in tradition. Under the direction of Executive Chef Jorge González, the weekend includes the return of the beloved Tertulia Night, and an expanded beachfront dinner party on Cuevas Beach.

Tertulia Night – Opening Dinner at Dos Catrinas (Friday, October 31, 2025 | 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm)

An elegant six-course dinner hosted at the resort’s signature restaurant, Dos Catrinas, with each course created by a different chef, including:

  • Chef Emmanuel “Manu” Calderón (Four Seasons Resort Anguilla)
  • Chef Miguel Soltero (Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo)
  • Chef Tonatiuh Cuevas (Cosecha Farm to Table, Mezcales)
  • Chef Héctor Adame (Dos Catrinas)
  • Executive Chef Jorge González (Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita)
  • Pastry Chef Carlos Rabago (Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita)

Guiding the evening’s flavours, the world-renowned Baltra Bar from Mexico City will pair each of the six courses with sparkling Pet-Nat, Casa Dragones Blanco, Reposado cocktails, fine Mexican wines, and a finale of fresh coffee alongside the debut of Mezcal FSPM. Alternating sets of live mariachi and curated music will carry the celebration into a Mez bar takeover by Casa Cuervo from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Families can also wind down with an outdoor screening of The Book of Life at Cuevas Beach starting at 7:15 pm, offering a heartfelt cinematic tribute to the holiday’s themes of love, memory, and connection.

Seating for Tertulia Night is limited; guests are encouraged to reserve early via OpenTable.

Cuevas Beach Celebration - Día de Muertos Dinner Party (Saturday, November 1, 2025 | 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm)
Set beneath the stars and on the sand, the celebration begins with the Madre Tierra Barbacoa Ritual at IKU Garden at Bahia – a spiritual cooking tradition rooted in the Wixárika culture of Nayarit. Following the ceremonial underground cooking of lamb, guests will enjoy a vibrant buffet dinner with interactive live chef stations hosted by the weekend’s culinary collaborators. As the night unfolds, guests can embrace the holiday’s artistry through La Catrina-inspired face painting, craft their own flower crowns, and dance barefoot in the sand to live music. While adults enjoy the festivities at Cuevas Beach, kids can head to the Game Room, located adjacent to Cuevas Beach, for their own Día de Muertos-inspired after-party.

The Cuevas Beach Celebration is open to both resort guests and the public. Reservations via OpenTable are recommended to secure a spot.

A Celebration for All Generations - Breakfast at Dos Catrinas (Sunday, November 2, 2025)

Sunday morning closes the weekend with tacos de barbacoa prepared from the previous evening’s ceremonial lamb, accompanied by seasonal Pan de Muerto – a traditional sweet bread enjoyed during Día de Muertos to honour and remember loved ones – served along with à la carte breakfast offerings.

Cultural Programming & Artistic Installations

At Media Luna, guests can take part in artisanal workshops that celebrate Mexico’s rich cultural traditions. While the resort offers a variety of creative experiences year-round, Catrinas Fest features select activities specially timed to honour Día de Muertos. During the celebration, guests can immerse themselves in hands-on sessions such as painting vibrant alebrijes – fantastical creatures rooted in Mexican folk art – and crafting intricate papel picado, the colourful cut-paper banners that adorn altars and festivities across the country. Throughout the weekend, traditional ofrendas (altars), lovingly crafted by Four Seasons Punta Mita staff, will be on display near Cuevas Beach, where guests are invited to add their own tributes, from photographs to small offerings, creating a living space of remembrance and connection.
